Thanks, everyone.
Here's the birthday summary:
Had a great breakfast. I recommend the Mayor's Breakfast at IHOP if you have a chance. The spinach and eggs were delicious, and the colorful pancakes a nice twist on an old favorite... and for someone who is not fond of Sprite, I really enjoyed the Beezlenut Splash. Drinking Sprite with Jello is definitely a fun experience.
As was the Dyngus Day ice cube toss...
I'd worn my red sweater from Torrid with a strapless basque underneath... The minute the kids left the table to use the bathrooms, Bryan said, "Happy Dyngus Day!" and pitched an ice cube down the front of my sweater! The next time he tried, I was ready. I deflected the ice off of my ample endowments. As he was poised to toss another one into my cleavage, the waitress came by with the check. As soon as she left, we started cracking up laughing at the table.
After the food and flirtation, I was definitely in the mood to snuggle. *grin* It felt good to be able to crawl back into bed for a little while before he had to get ready for work. As for presents, I got two soundtracks: Enchanted and Wicked. Also, and a total surprise...
I'm going to see Avril Lavigne and Boys Like Girls on Saturday!
OMG, we had a wonderful time at the Zoo. I took a lot of pictures and a few short videos that I'll be uploading to my computer, editing, adding music, and then uploading to YouTube. The tigers, lioness, and snow leopard were being very cooperative for my camera. I have plenty of the wrestling cubs on film. Bree filmed her very first video, of a lioness grooming herself. The snow leopard saw me approach, started to purr, and then jumped onto the sunning rock next to me. She bumped her head twice against the fence in greeting. What a gorgeous feline!
There are a few videos of the otters playing, and one reaction shot of the kids. Overall, a fun outing.
When I got home, I found two packages waiting for me: BPAL and my lavender cheongsam. The dress is gorgeous! It fit perfectly, and the frogs were fairly easy to fasten. I think I'll be wearing it for our anniversary. I'm very excited about receiving The Unicorn. I think it fitting that as a BPAL virgin, it will be my first imp to test.
First sniff test:
light, softly floral, very familiar fragrance that I can't place, reminds me of the first breath of spring
Scent, wet:
deeper tones present, flirty and refreshing; the linden flowers smell sweet and I imagine them falling onto my shoulders.
Scent, dry:
reminds me of a floral soap from Ireland that my brother's fiancée sent me... the crisp scent of the first day of spring.
My goddess! I would bathe in this scent. The subtle herb scent seems to enhance the floral nicely, and the scent lingered into the afternoon. A great birthday treat!
Impression: This is what Ireland smells like to an American: full of beauty, promise, and innocence. On my third sniff, an hour after application, it hit me that The Unicorn smells exactly like Oasis, an occult store in Keene, NH. As soon as I'd walk in the door, I'd be greeted by crushed linden incense.
This is what I'd wear to a Renaissance fair, or a handfasting. While I could wear it often, it seems best reserved for special occasions.
Grade: You had me at hello...
