Hi all.
I was watching Mary Poppins on VHS before and at the end there were some bonus features, so I decided to watch them. Anyway, it had some footage from the premier of the movie, and it had a caption at the bottom of the screen saying what the day was: August 27th 1964.
So, Happy 40th Disney's Mary Poppins!

Wow! Today's the 40th Anniversary of the premiere of Mary Poppins!!

Still as great a movie as ever! Technically, cinematically (is that a word? probably not), musically, and story-ly. Great, enduring message to that film. The crown jewel of Walt's personal canon of films. :sohappy:

I just got done finishing watching the dvd version . It looks wounderful for 40 years ,I even wore a Mary Poppin's pin to work today hoping someone would notice and ask me why.

During the "Jolly Holiday" number what is the birds head on her umbrellea..a parrot or a flamingo .

It look's like a Flamingo's head during the scene ,also during the number "I Love to Laugh" the parrots head is the same color of her dress which is gray.

:sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

Here's some interesting news

If you like the Marry Poppins film, you might love the news I'm going to tell you.

Ahem...

I went to London last spring and while I was there I saw a play (Les Miserables). And to remember this incredible performance, I bought a program and while I was in my room looking it over, I saw an advertisement for a play. And the play was Mary Poppins. Since Disney has created 2 other great musicals based in Disney films, you know this is going to be a great musical. I don't know if a Broadway performance will be created but the website www.marypoppinsthemusical.co.uk might have London performance information. Hope this pleases everyone.

Thanks for the link! Man, even though I never really saw Marry Poppins that much as a little kid, I still remember listening to those songs on the sing along tapes. Aah, how I remember singing along to "Let's go fly a kite." I especially love Feed the Birds... such a nice song. Happy Birthday Marry!

Wow! I can't believe Mary Poppin's is 40 years old (and one day)! I loved that movie as a child and still love it today! Don't forget to pick up your copy of the 40th Anniversary Edition of Mary Poppins available in December!
