Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind SPOILER Thread

Splash Mtn and Tower of Terror are based on old irrelevant shows and they remain wildly popular, they are building a coaster themed to Tron right now, none of those movies/shows have been relevant for decades, and a lot of visitors have likely never even seen them, but the IP doesn’t really matter as long as the ride is good.

I suspect that long after the Guardians movies are just a memory the ride will likely live on.
Well, ride IPs do chalnge all the time.

Like trolls to Frozen, and ummm, uhhhh...

Uhhh....

Some of those are outright replacements, not rethemes. Horizons, World of Motion, and TGMR are all now completely different rides built in the same location -- it's not like Mission: Space uses the Horizons track.

Going from no IP , or corporate IP to a simple IP overlay, or slapping in some projectors isn't quite the same. Or, you know, gutting the building, and putting in something new.

I rode twice got Everybody Wants to Rule the world. Whole family absolutely loved it. That said, I think they were smart when they developed this ride. The Guardians of The Galaxy are not a timeless IP. Their comic was never that popular, and WDW made the movies as work arounds to not having other marvel properties at the time. The movies did great but as the cast disappears from them and the director moves on the franchise wane. The ride is great but it could EASILY be reworked into another IP or some more generic if 10 years from now GOTG are not a thing at all. There is no animatronic investment
The great irony is the only reason it can be built at WDW is because of the lack of popularity for GotG prevented their inclusion at IoA! Lol! Now look at them.

It did seem like the inside of the gravity building was brighter as I could see more of the track and the structure of the building.
This just seems like a fail to me. The fact the structure is visible, the projections obivous, the lack of physical set pieces or AAs. Just seems like a poorly executed concept. I mean, it should be fun -- it's a coaster. Can't help but think they missed the mark with theme and story. Good thing it didn't cost an arm and a leg to build it.
