Isn't it an internet facts that Disney needs new E Ticket attractions every few years to motivate some return guests.

LL revenue is the gravy

This is demonstrably false
Thanks for the correction.

You're right Disney had no intention to eventually monetize FastPass. 🤣

I guess someone in Disney just woke up one day and said, "Hey, you know the FastPass system that cost us so much to develop and release and we give out for free, lets monetize it, Universal already does!!"

I admit I am not an expert like you, but the moment I saw the tap points and and free magic bands, and the app, I KNEW we would be paying eventually (but that's just my thoughts).

This actually something I was wondering when I wrote it a few days ago. What is actually happening here? We’re not actually going anywhere we’re just sitting in that room for the brief elevator simulation, I know that. But does it serve a purpose beyond the storytelling element? If not, I don’t think that’s a problem, but I was curious if it was something that was included maybe as a clever way to hold vehicles in place for timing or to put enough distance between the set of vehicles you were riding with and the one ahead of you behind you, etc.

I mean, ultimately, that's what ever scene on a trackless dark ride is. You want every scene to be long enough that the vehicles in front of you have enough time to clear the scene in front of you and for the scene to rest (if needed). The preference is to have lots of shorter scenes to allow more vehicles on the circuit at any one time. In roller coaster terms, each scene acts as sort of a block zone where only one set of ride vehicles can be in the block zone at any one time. Ideally, whatever is happening in each scene is long enough (and interesting enough) that it doesn't feel like you are just waiting in a scene (though sometimes that does happen if there is a delay at unload and a backup of vehicles in the scenes ahead of you).

Someone keep an eye on this for us:

It's funny, but I'm not sure it's really worth it. If they cared about people doing this, they should have put doors on both sides and a walk around the back of the screen if you exited on the left. Then the doors could open randomly so people couldn't know if they needed to be left or right. With how they made that part of the queue, it's always going to have people pushing right.

Someone suggested in the comments they rotate through which line goes first, so you never know who has the advantage. Would be a smart way to handle.

People really need to chill anyway, once the pre-show is over the wait is minimal.. you're getting on the coaster.

I agree, but also when you visit once a year or less every second of time is valuable. I won't shove anyone or anything like that, but I definitely move my group to the right and try to be as efficient as possible.

Do you move past people in order to get to the right?

But then you’d have to manage an even bigger merge. And random doors risks more people being sent to one side. If the computer opens Side A three times in a row, do you make the group sent to Side B wait? How do you know when it’s their turn if more people get sent to Side A?

I was there last week as well and rode Guardians on Friday morning. While they had ropes kind of segmenting, they opened the left and right doors only (not the middle) and let everyone go like a flood. I have started staying to the far side to avoid the crush of people rushing to save five minutes.

If they wanted to truly fix it, they would have a queue line set up in the teleportation room and force people to wade through it. Also, the joke about where Terry Crews asks "What do we call them?" and some person yells "Alcoholics" is played out. Time to give it rest.

As I tell my wife every time we go on it, "Last in this group is still ahead of first in the next group."

I rode several times a couple weeks ago. Some days both doors opened and all flowed. But a couple times they held one door back while the other moved.

I have migrated to the always wait crowd.

Also shocked they STILL just have temporary stanchions up restricting the space behind the middle door. Make a decision and fix it Disney. Whatever modification you need to make would be paid for with a day or two of LL$$$.

I’m exaggerating a little. But it’s bad design that needs a tweak for human behavior. Don’t let bad show continue for something that should not be a discussion point.

It's a difference of two or three minutes. Those seconds really don't matter, and I say this as someone who only goes maybe every three to five years. By jamming up against the far wall, you also confuse everyone else in the chamber not accustomed to this particular brand of insanity. Last time I went, a confused woman with her two children asked me what was happening and I just told her to not pay attention to them.
