Trying to decide between a resort view room and a resort studio preferred room. Anyone have any thoughts? Coming with a one year old and mu son and daughter in law in late August. Thanks!

The regular room has two queen beds, the studio has a king and a sleeper sofa. Seeing as you have 3 adults, I would go with the regular room.

@Touchdown , you’re confusing a regular studio and t the new resort studios.

A resort studio room has 2 regular beds and a pull-down single bed. These are the new DVC studios and are in the Big Pine Key building.

They’ll also have a microwave and refrigerator.

If they are the same price, then the resort studio preferred view will have a slightly better view, and perhaps a slightly better location. Looking at WDW website, I don't see anywhere that says the resort studio preferred view rooms have a microwave or a fridge. Both the rooms you ask about are listed as having 'beverage coolers,' though most WDW vacation club studio rooms have a microwave, unless you are asking about a 'deluxe resort view studio room.'

Disney's wording of rooms is entirely confusing.

All the GF rooms have been somewhat recently renovated. Either way, much of the decor should be similar. The studio will be located in Big Pine Key, whereas the location of the regular resort room is less specific. I've stayed in a reg resort view room a number of times, and I've usually wound up in a decent enough location.

If there is a difference in price, I'd probably choose the less expensive option, unless the extra daybed would be helpful/or the price difference is very small.

FYI,I do see that the reg resort view rooms and the rooms that are listed as "deluxe Studio Resort View" are the same price. In that case, you would get the mcrowave, but also 1queen+1pull-down queen+1 single pull down for beds. WDW's pulldown beds are great as pulldowns go, but they are still pulldowns, so not quite as comfortable as WDW's regular beds.

A resort studio is a DVC studio. Regular Disney rooms aren’t called studios.

Big Pine Key is now entirely DVC Resort Studios, converted from regular rooms as “Phase 2” of GF Villas.

They are also different to most DVC studios and have two normal queen beds. Like OKW does.

Thanks, I got all that.

I meant that in general, WDW reuses too many overlapping terms like deluxe, preferred, and suite to describe different rooms. Like using 'resort view' to mean 'standard view.' There is also preferred view and preferre3d location. Argh!

More than once, I've called to book a room and the CM's were confused by the overlapping names. When I correctly asked for a club level room at the Contemporary with a Bay Lake view,' reading the name of the room right off WDW's website, the CM kept thinking I was trying to book a vacation club room at Bay Lake Tower.

I had to say, "No, not a room in Bay Lake Tower, a room in the main tower building of the Contemporary."

It was almost like that old Abott and Costello comedy bit, "Who's on first?"

All studios have a small refrigerator, rather than the coolers in some regular rooms.
Most have a freezer compartment.

The 1-beds and up have a full size refrigeration with freezer.
Good to know. I thought the appeal of DVC was the kitchen - so that’s a frustrating difference.
