Got home last night

I have lots of stuff to tell you about. First, I have to do laundry. Any questions from anyone before I start? We went everywhere and did most things at least twice. I am trying to decide to go day by day or park by park. We skipped around alot to do different things and because of the daily rain and massive heat.

Day One

Arrived a day earlier then expected. Grabbed a room at the Rodeway Inn Maingate. Mind you, we got what we paid for. We did all get to take a shower and sleep after the long drive. We ate and went to the outlet mall. No pins at character corner.

We got up bright and early to head to All-Star Sports to check-in early. Knowing we could get our park tickets and come back later.

Misc trip things

OK I'll continue the report later. I wanted to give you some misc. info.

We had the best ride on the monorail. My son asked to sit up front going from Epcot to TTC. He was told "of course." It was a great ride. Our driver was very nice and the boys got co-pilot licenses at the end of the ride.

Liberty Belle Riverboat....We went on the boat at my 10 year olds request. We went up to the top and my 10 year old disappeared. I didn't get too worried knowing he couldn't go far we were on a boat. I asked a CM if she happened to see him, I described him and she giggled and said he's driving. Thinking she was insane, she pointed me up the steps. He was having a detailed discussion with the driver about all the buttons etc on the control panel. He had a birds eye view and I left him there and he had a great time. All my years and trips, I've never done this and didn't know you could. Apparantly, he just went up and asked. Forgetting to tell us, but it was alright and he enjoyed it.

Fort Wilderness....we went to eat at Trail's End Buffet for lunch and had Donnelle, he said call him Big D as a server. Great guy, if you go there, try to get him as a server. We then went to the Petting Farm. Walked over to the stables where it happened to be feeding time. We were all kissed by horses and had a ton of fun. Fritz is a little stinker of a horse. He kept putting his head over and nuzzling my neck til I pet him. Luke is a feisty one. My 11 year old was standing next to the stable where Luke is and he put his head over to "kiss" him with a mouth full of water and soaked him. I mean soaked him with water and then neighed like he thought he was funny. Had a wonderful time there in the stables. QES was another big lovey dovey. So much for the no petting signs. We were looking and the horses were petting us. Then my son had a lizard jump on him. You can never catch these things and it jumped on him. It turns out it was a chameleon. We would get it off him and it would jump right back on. It stayed on him all the ay back to the hotel. It rode the boat from Ft. Wilderness to Magic Kingdom. The CM's there loved it and had a grand time with him. Woody was one of the CM's that was just a great guy on the boat. Then it went from there to the bus stop for our hotel. Then on the bus riding on his head to our hotel. Through the lobby and I finally got it into the bushes by the playground near our room. The thing would not go away. I have pictures of it on his arm, on his head, hanging on his ear like an earring.

We had a bus driver named Richard who was the greatest. We sang all the way to the Magic Kingdom at 8:30 in the morning. The whole bus load sang. We had another bus driver from our hotel to MGM that just cracked us up. He used the line....please be careful when stepping off the bus as the sidewalks will be moving as fast as the bus when we get off and he wouldn't want anyone hurt. Took my son forever to get off the bus because it was moving as fast as the bus. (Doh!!! The bus is stopped honey.) Then he gets it and giggles all the way through MGM.

We had a CM at the Haunted Mansion try to scare my boys and my 10 yr old son looks at him and says good one man. So...every CM in the Haunted Mansion was trying to get him. Instead he just giggled away. In fact, he scared the begeebies out of one of the CM's when we got off the ride. Well, startled him.

Pin trading was a riot. One of the guys he traded with in front of the Haunted Mansion was a riot and then he came out and he was there and he looked again and the other CM was all excited about the pin my son had on until he realized that he just traded it to him before we went in the ride.

More to come.......

Check-In Day 2

We woke bright and early to head to All-Star Sports to do early check-in and head off to the parks. We arrived at 8:00am. We checked-in, we had preferred room so when we got there and the man at the desk said any other requests, of which we had already talked to reservations about, we said first floor if possible. The guy was sure no problem, how about something right here in front of the pool? Now, it an't get any better then that.

We took our room keys that had our park tickets on it and took off. They have a thing now where you just call this number later and they tell you what room you are in and go without having to stand in line again.

Caught a bus to MGM and was there by 9am opening. Straight in to fastpass RnRC and stand in line for ToT. 17 minute wait was all. We had an awesome ride. The kids wanted on again. So we did. Our time was up to get on RnRC but we went to STar Tours for a fastpass first. Rode RnRC, first time for my husband who hates things that go upside down. I think it was his last time too. Went to WWTBM for a fastpass, the CM was giving out earlier fastpasses, so we got those and used or tickets to fastpass ToT again. Rode Star Tours, ate at the Backlot Express, hit WWTBM just in time. That really was alot of fun. My 10 yr old was at the top but then the time was up. Hit the GMR and Backlot Tour and headed back to the hotel for our room and a quick swim.

Back at the hotel, we got our room number, headed to the room and found out it had one king size bed. OOOPS!! They made a mistake. So he gets on the phone to the front desk and 2 hours later we are in another room, not as good of a spot, but it worked. They promised tro move our things the following day to a room by the pool since it was their mistake. Worked for me. We unloaded, the boys swam and I got our mugs. I love the new skinnier mugs, but my kids still like the fat mugs. I made dinner in the room and we went back off to the MK.

Got to Magic Kingdom and decided to skip the Fireworks and Spectromagic as we'd be there all week. We rode BTMR twice, Space Mountain, the speedway, Alien Encounter, Splash Mountain and the HM 4 times in a row. The kids bought themselves Pin Trading Starter Kits which really, for WDW was a good deal. We spent the rest of the night shopping down Main Street, the kids wanted to trade. We stopped at the bakery and the sweet shop and off to the room we went.

The first day was really great at WDW. We had no lines really. The longest wait like I said was 17 minutes at ToT. Everything else we ran in and out of. That was Sunday the 13th. We had the one major glitch of the hotel room, but hey, it's Disney and it wasn't bringing me down. It was an honest mistake of which they rectified quickly and then went above and beyond by giving us a new room and moving us into it while we were out right in front of the pool. Was a great room. We enjoyed it. Our mousekeeping, Joyce, was wonderful. Our fill-in when she was off on Friday and Saturday before we left was not Disney standard, but Joyce had been above and beyond, so it evened itself out.

OK...enough for now....

Will do more later. (Doing it all from memory and don't want to mix it all up or leave out the good stuff.)

Wow. Great trip report. Tell us more. I do have a question. We are also planning to go to trails end. I think we would take the boat from MK to FW. Can you please tell me exactly where it is located once you get off the boat? Thanks. Did your kids enjoy the food there. Our 3 DS are 15,13 and 11 and the 11 yo is very picky.

Yes take the boat from MK to FW it's the fastest way. It's cheaper for lunch by the way. When you get off the boat follow the dock to shore and straight ahead and then veer to your right. It's at Pioneer Hall right by the dock. There is a trading post there too. if you go left and it's quite cute.

My 10 yr old is picky too. My guys have always loved it. Keep in mind drinks are refillable even MILK!! That is a huge plus since my guys are huge milk drinkers and it's so expensive there. My 2 boys and hubby drank a gallon alone. Get Donnell, Big "D" for a server if you can. He's a lot of fun. If your boys like animals walk up to th petting farm and stables while you are there.

It's A Small World

This installment is aptly named "It's A Small WOrld" for a reason.

As you all know, I'm from a small suburb in Michigan. I am 34 years old so school has been out for a long time now. (You needed the preface for this installment.)

Here we are in the AK, miles from home. We go to the Safari and get fastpasses, there is no wait, so we go in the safari and see the baby elephant while we wait for our fastpass time. We then have time to go get fastpasses for Kali River Rapids. We get there and get our fastpasses and I look to my right and one of my dearest friends from elementary and middle school is standing there with his family. We see each other now and then, but his wife died a few years ago and then he remarried and we rarely run into each other and we live only a couple miles away from each other. But there he is with the new wife and all 4 kids. (2 hers, 2 his) We gab for a bit, hugs all around and giggle about how ironic it is to run into eachother. Well, off we go, get some food at Tusker House, come back for our fastpass time and there they are again. So, we end up being a group of 10 for the ride and having just the time of our lives riding the ride with all the kids giggling and getting soaked. It really was just the weirdest thing running into his family and this being their first visit ever to WDW. We gave them hints and things to not miss for the kids and went on our way. (Yes, I even gave his new wife directions to the outlet mall.)

Talk about an unexpected day in the AK. Not even DIsney himself could've planned that magical moment.

I am twice your age and I was 1200 miles from home. It was just so weird.
