They weirdly seem to come and go without warning, as a local it's ever so slightly annoying because a bit of chocolate could really help your blood sugar in the heat Springs seems to have no matter the time of day haha.

I know it will never happen, but it would be awesome if Ghirardelli went to serving the ice cream in glass dishes like in San Francisco (I repeat that I know that it will never happen given the location). And bring back the samples!

After the pandemic (2022), they eliminated many flavors of ice cream & simplified their menu, not offering as much.

This used to be a staple stop on my trips for years. It simply just got too expensive and hard to find a seat especially in the evenings. I also miss the free samples. I wonder if the remodel might lead to a more unified store concept with the chocolate and ice cream areas mixed together. Without the samples to bring people in im not sure how much foot traffic the store side is getting.

We were locals for a while and it it was always on the list until it became impossible to find a seat inside or outside. If I want to stand and eat my food I go to Epcot. At least they have trash cans.

It is a shame they are not moving to a larger building permanently and doing something more like Toothsome Chocolate Factory with it...A huge Ghirardelli Branded mega store/bakery/restaurant would be a great fit for the Springs.

It is crazy to me that a business has to file for a permit to put up a SIGN. It's fine for a municipality to have regulations for signs but it should just be something that the business complies with and risks a fine or removal if they violate the municipal codes. Permits for construction are so that the building department can perform inspections and ensure that safety critical things are built to code. [/rant]

We are in the habit of calling these permits, but they are really Notice of Commencement which are about assuring proper payment to the contactor for the work being done.

Yes!! The last time I got a scoop i wasn’t impressed and it cost more with passholder discount than a non-discounted scoop at salt and straw which uses much better ingredients.

Can you even by an individual square anymore? Or do you have to buy a whole pack?

No clue if they did or not. We went to the one in San Francisco a couple years ago, and it is where I got my sister to admit that she likes ice cream. All she has been saying ever since is that the one at Springs needs the glass dishes.

Ah, the classic “I don’t know how this works but I’m mad about it.”

As @danlb_2000 mentioned, notices of commencement are about ensuring payment. If a contractor is not paid these enable them to place a lien on a property.

The old Ghirardelli store seemed so tiny...Not sure if this one is bigger or smaller...It would have a better seating area right over the water...especially if they put a huge canopy over the whole thing... How long will this be here "temporarily"?
