Does anyone else think the menu for Gaston's is a bit bizarre? There are cinnamon buns, chocolate croissants, and then a big sloppy pork shank? Seems completely random and out of place, especially since it the only non-snack thing offered.

Seems like it can't decide what it wants to be, in terms of menu. When BoG restaurant opens, I would not be surprised if they add more entree options (sandwiches, etc.) to accommodate the overflow.

I believe they are trying to make that pork shank into the new turkey leg. You have to admit, that turkey leg also shows up in some weird places.

Quite honestly I am thrilled about the shank because of it's similarity to the Turkey Leg so I hope it finds it's way to carts around the area too. Nothing like going caveman and chomping on a big ol' hunk o' meat!

I agree. If I don't get a turkey leg it hasn't been an official Disney trip. I'm looking forward to the shank.

Pork Shank > Turkey Legs! Ate there yesterday and thought it was great! The brew was pretty good too! Thought the area as a whole is really well done. We are excited about eating at BOG in April.

No, I agree they pork shank fits the theme, but I'm not exactly sure I'd see Gaston eating chocolate croissants, or hummus and crackers....

I'm just saying it's an odd combination to have.

The croissants and the cinnamon buns seem to be there mostly for a breakfast-y option. But as for the hummus, I think a lot of it has to do with Disney trying to add healthier options, especially in the areas where children are most likely to be eating. Your six-year-old probably isn't going to be eating a pork shank, but a smaller, lighter snack like a fruit cup or vegetables and dip might be more suitable. It's definitely nice to have more variety, especially if you're doing four days of parks with kids and you're trying to to have chicken finger or pizza every meal.

But I definitely agree that it's weird that half the menu is made up of food you'd never see Gaston eat. Maybe a heartier breakfast food might be a better fit (Gaston does eat lots of eggs...)
