Galaxy's Edge Trip for RotR

Hey all,

New member; hope this is the right forum. My sis and I are trying to plan a holiday trip together. Neither of us have gone to WDW when a new ride, let alone a land, is opening/recently open, but we thought about planning this year's trip around the opening of Rise of the Resistance on December 5th.

I know "opening dates" are just formal bookmarks and they usually have previews before those dates, but wanted to see what the community thought about this specific opening. The Disney site doesn't say HS has EMH during that period, so my questions are:
  • For those that have gone during a big opening like this, is it even worth going?
  • If the park opens at 9:00 am, what time would people start lining up outside?
  • Would there be any benefit to staying at a Disney resort (other than the transportation)?
  • Any other insight into how the parks are different from "standard" experiences that someone would have to consider when planning a vacation around one of these events.
Thanks!

It’s very likely that they will have extra EMH, similar to what’s happening for the opening of Galaxy’s Edge. I would plan based on that, namely 6-9am EMH every day. Those EMH will be well worth it, so I would suggest staying onsite will be worth it.

Bear in mind RotR is the main ride, and is opening at DHS first. Whether or not it is “worth it” to be there when it opens, only you can answer.

I'd suspect alot of their plans will be impacted by how the SWGE opening goes. If it's much busier than DLR, and they see need to keep doing EEMH, then they would most likely repeat when RoTR opens. But if it slows down similarly, then they may not.

Yeah, I'm hoping for EEMH but reluctant to make plans if it's not on the official Disney calendar. I'll keep an eye on the hours and see if anything changes. Thanks for your input.

I'd love to hear experience from others who have been at WDW when a land or new e-ticket ride has opened. What was your experience like? What tips (other than "bring your patient pants") do you have?
