Pre-Trip Full Steam Ahead ~ First Stop: Yacht Club

Here we go again y’all!
Staying at the Yacht Club August 17-24th 2024. We were lucky to snag the Disney dining plan special. Staying at the Yacht Club is new for us. It’s our first time as a family that we’re staying there. When I was little my family stayed there…. It was our favorite resort to stay at. As a grownup with my own family, we’ve stayed at the Swan and Dolphin numerous times and we’ve stayed off property over the last couple years. So, we haven’t truly stayed at a Disney resort in many many years. Truth be told, I am super excited to stay there! Also, we've never done the dining plan either, so we have many new things to look forward to.

This trip will be me, dh, dd10 & dd7.

I will attach my other trip reports if you’d like to check them out 😉

Literally just booked airfare this morning…. I know, cutting it close. 😅 We debated driving (again) because of the price of flying, but we found pretty good priced airfare today.
Flying from Philadelphia on Friday August 16th at 8:28pm- 11:00pm. I got a free night at Fairfield Inn in Orlando and we’ll sleep, wake up, eat our free breakfast and then head on over to Yacht Club in the late morning/early afternoon. I figure we could check out the pool while we wait to get our room. Once we get our room, we’ll get settled in and maybe walk around Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk.
We have a “resort view” room, but I’m crossing my fingers that we get upgraded…. If not, we might pay to upgrade and get a better view. My expectations are low, so whatever the outcome I’ll be happy.
That will be our first official day and we’ll make it an early night as we anticipate our first park day on Sunday!

Sunday, August 18th- Epcot in the am and MK in the pm
Thinking about going to France in Epcot for breakfast or we’ll eat something quick in our room. Anyone ever eaten breakfast in Epcot have any recommendation, I‘m all ears! I appreciate all your feedback and recommendations 😉

We have dinner reservations for Crystal Palace at 5:20. Not sure if we’re going to go back to the resort to rest midday or if we’ll take the monorail from Epcot to MK. Guess it will depend on the day.

Monday, August 19th- AK in the am & Epcot in the pm

8:05am Cape May Cafe breakfast reservations!
After, we’ll scoot on over to AK until about lunchtime. AK has always been a half day park for us (Unpopular opinion: it’s our least fav park). We do enjoy it though, so a half day there it is!
We’ll head back to the resort for a few hours to rest or swim(?!?)… not sure yet, maybe both.
Epcot has extra magic hours for deluxe resort guests until 11pm, so the plan is to see what we can do and take advantage of this time. We have dinner reservations at Via Napoli in Italy at 4:45.

Our girls are finally just about old enough that they have the stamina to do this. In the past, we’d always be back at the room by 9ish becuase they didn’t have the stamina and we didn’t want to overdo it…. Plus, those of you that know me know we would put the kids to bed and have a few cocktails 🍹 on the patio, so leave the parks early isn’t the worst thing, but I’d like to see what we can do during those extra magic hours….

Anyone ever done this at Epcot? Are the countries open, too or just the rides up front? Thanks 😉

Enjoy some oldie but goodie pics of us at AK & Epcot 😀

Me, Scott and Cassidy(2) in Canada - I was pregnant with Chelsea (May).

Next couple ones are of us at Cape May Cafe… Chelsea is almost 2 and Cass is 4. Chelsea did not like the characters.

Tuesday, August 20th- MK in the am & HS in the pm

In the past we didn't have park hoppers (not in the last 8 years anyway). I’m finding it mildly difficult to plan our days with park hoppers… it was just easier before, we’d pick a park for the day and then do that park. Now there are so many options (which isn’t bad, but I’m a planner and the possibilities are endless 😆).

Anyhow, MK in the am. We will likely eat breakfast in the hotel room and then have lunch at pinocchio Village Haus. It’s our favorite quick service in MK (that and Picos Bills 😋 ).

We will go back to the hotel midday for a rest and then head over to HS for our 5:00 dinner at Roundup Rodeo BBQ (kids’ choice, but we love it too). We will be watching Fantasmic FOR THE FIRST TIME! We’ve never seen it before…. none of us, so I’m looking forward to that as well!

Enjoy some pics from last year at HS:

Wednesday, August 21st- HS am & MK pm
No ADRs yet. Anyone have recommendations? We have one left that we need to book…

Nothing fancy about today…. We’ll do HS in the morning, go back to the hotel for some r&r and then head to MK. Magic Kingdom has extra magic hours this night until 11, so we’re excited about that.
We did purchase the dessert party for this evening. We haven’t stayed and watched the nighttime show in about 8 years. I don’t want to have to grab a spot an hour and a half before the show to have a good view, plus I don’t like the huge crowd and who knows who will stand in front of me. So, to avoid all that, we bought the dessert party at the Tomorrow Land Terrace for 7:30pm. It was pricey but hopefully well worth the money. We’ll get dessert, drinks (non-alcohol and alcohol) and relax for an hour before they take us over to a prime viewing spot for the pm show. I am really looking forward to this. Then, afterwards we’ll stay in the park until 11 and take advantage of those last 2 hours there.

If anyone has done the dessert party, I’d love to hear your opinion or feedback. 😀

Thursday, August 22nd- Pool Day- no parks

Because of our late night at Magic Kingdom the night before, we can sleep in and take our time getting to the pool. We have an ADR at Beaches and Cream at 12:10. We‘ll probably go in our coverups from the pool and then go back to the pool afterwards. We’ll swim all afternoon and then we have 5:45 ADRs at Ale & Compass. We originally wanted to do Yachtman’s Steakhouse, but it was 2 sit down credits annnnd we heard good stuff about Ale and Compass.
up next, our last park day. 😫

Friday- August 23rd- Epcot am & pm

We always end our trip at Epcot and this one is no different. Epcot is our favorite park for many reasons. We have ADRs at Akershus at 8am for breakfast. I will buy lightening lane passes for GotG for this day. We‘ll do all the things this day. It is our tradition to eat at San Angel Inn inside the Mexico pavilion on our last night. It’s one of our favorites and look forward to the calm relaxing, “nighttime” atmosphere, not to mention the food and drinks!
Enjoy some San Angel pics from previous trips 😉
