For DvC renters.... Help needed

We've only rented at Old Key West so far, but will be renting at the Grand Floridian, Beach Club, and Wilderness Lodge this summer. Once we figured out how economical it was to rent points, it really opened the doors for us to stay on-property. (We had mostly commuted prior to discovering DVC rentals.) Anyway, I can't really answer your first question because it honestly depends upon what sorts of things you are looking for in a resort, not to mention your price point. Could you tell us more about what you are looking for?

As for pictures of the units, I like to watch video tours on YouTube. Just type in the name of the resort and the sort of room you're looking for (Studio, 1BR, 2BR, etc).

Well we like MK and Epcot probably the best. Price point I would like to spend less than $150 a night if possible. I think I would like a king size bed so the one bedrooms are looking like our best option.

BCV is probably our favorite so far, although that is partly because we spend more time in Epcot than any other park. We stayed in a studio last June and loved it. You really can't beat the location, although the villas rooms really could use an update there. They aren't bad - just nothing special. Of the Epcot resorts, the BWV rooms have been updated more recently, so they're nicer, but SAB is also a big bonus if your kids like to swim.

Just be sure and rent from a reputable place, and be aware that they have different rules. DVC Rental Store and David's are two with good reputations. Also, payment terms are different from Disney (David's is all up front, DVC Rental is $8 per point up front, with the rest paid by 45 days out), and usually non-refundable.

Thanks for the information. Do the DVC owners book your dining and ticket packages? just curious as to how that works and if you have to have all that money up front too.

See the link for some FAQ's. I'm not up to date on how MM+ has affected everything, but it's my understanding that you can purchase your tickets anywhere and link them to your reservation through the rental agency. We don't use the DP, but I believe the only way to purchase a DP is through the agency, as the member has to be involved. When and how you pay depends on the agency, but this one just requires it be added 30 days out, and be paid in full when you add it.

I rent points out to people on here on occasion. $150 or less is not that reasonable. I charge $12 per point while the other time share companies charge you 14.

We've always used dvcrentalstore.com. We've rented studios at Boardwalk, AKL, and VWL. We've also rented a 2 Bdr at VWL. Our favorite are the Villas at Wilderness Lodge...the view, boat ride to MK, etc... Convenience, we liked BWV...walk to DHS and Epcot, extras on the boardwalk, etc... Having the animals right there and Bomas made AKL fun too.

I went on the mouseowners board and rented. I don't know how legitimate all the owners are there but the one I rented from was pretty cool...He took the names addresses and ages of everyone in my party and that evening I had an email from the DVC people at WDW with all the reservation stuff. A couple of days later I sent him a certified check. He asked if we wanted the Dining Plan I could have added it but we had decided to do cash and I bought the TIW card to save some money too. And AP's.
Overall 6d/5 nights in a preferred studio at BWV over Thanksgiving averaged out $ 300 cheaper than staying at WL those days or moving to the Dolphin. I am not sure but I think the cheapest you are going to get for MK or EPCOT studio or 1 bedroom will be about $200 per nite and that would probably be on the mouseowners board buying points in the 10-11 dollar range. I averaged $ 250/per nite in a studio during a holiday at an EPCOT resort which was cheaper than my AP discount at any deluxe. I thought I got a pretty good deal.

Always check Disney promo rates vs DVC rates. The peak times differ severely. We have a pin code for 35% and just booked a 2 bedroom BCV for $900 less than David's and DVC Rental Store. Other times of year renting is the way to go though.
I was going to say the same thing, there have been times where I was able to get a 2 bedroom at OKW for less than what I could have rented points for.

We are staying at BCV using David's Vacation Rentals next month for 7 nights. So far they have gone above and beyond. We got the dining plan (the owner added it to our reservation) and we can see our reservation on MDE. I bought our park tickets on the phone with Disney so I could do FP+ right away and not wait for the tix to arrive. I will let you know how our experience goes! (And we are paying $250/night for a studio during Presidents Day week).
If you want, there's a chart on David's website to figure out the price for all the different rooms and resorts. Good luck!!!

You will most likely not hit that price point for a 1BR villa. Most of the 1BR are 20ish point per night and up, with I think the lowest being AKV Jambo Value during Adventure season at 19 points midweek. You would need to find someone willing to rent you their points for ~$8 per point to hit that target. Most people renting their points themselves will still be looking for $10-12 per point. You may find a friend/family member willing to do it at $8, but thats only clearing ~$2.50 per point after dues, which would barely cover some peoples financing.

A standard/value studio at 11 point average during slow season might hit your $150ish goal at the going $14/point rate most of the brokers are charging.

But if you are looking to stay anything other than Adventure season (basically January, September, 1st 2 weeks of December) the points will go up a few, or as high as 20 extra points per night.
