Pre-Trip Flowers, Food & Fun- A May Pre-trip report!

Well, since I am 75 days out now, I figure it is time to start my pre-trip report!

Who? Just DisneyB and myself- formely known as DisneyShe- until a certain someone came along and made me a DisneyGigi. ;)

I am having very serious stress at being away from my grandson since I have him so much. Not just that this time but also, this kid LOVED Walt Disney World! I don’t know how I am supposed to explain to him that we are going without him. 😳

Look at that sweet face!

In all reality though, we made last trip all about him so there were a lot of things we did not get to do.

Another thing that honestly makes me nauseous to type...
After a short trip in September for our Anniversary- we are taking a short break for awhile to let Star Wars Mania die down a little. Reading that makes me honestly feel butterflies in my stomach. I really got spoiled by going more than once a year.

I am, however, very blessed to have been able to go 3 times over the past 9 months. That was something I have never done before. We went twice one year but usually it was a once a year trip, lasting 10-12 days. (Still very blessed to have been able to do that as well) I am one of those people that just doesn’t take anything for granted, especially a Disney trip. We are not guaranteed a thing and I always think when we leave, what if this is it. Gloomy thought, I know but you just can’t take a single day or thing for granted in my mind.

Onto the when’s and where’s -

May 5-11th F & G Festival! (I love it so much)

I love F & W Festival too but to me, there are less drunk people at Flower & Garden. Don’t get me wrong, I have several drinks at Walt Disney World... it is a vacation, after all- but I don’t get sloppy drunk like so many people we saw at night at the last 2 Food & Wine. Had a little happy Buzz before and may or may not have been a good bit tipsy at Club Villain but never to the point of cursing and being obnoxious like we saw. No point in it, at all. If you can’t handle your liquor, at least eat with it- don’t overdo it in front of so many kids. -end of rant 😑

Coming home the 11th so I am here for Mother’s Day. My son would be ticked if I wasn’t, plus I want to be home for my Momma too.

Coronado Springs Resort (my fave resort and will always be my home resort) This will be our 6th stay there.

And for those that have read my reports- I hate the drive down. I think I started hating it more when we got a smaller vehicle. It is so blessed uncomfortable, it isn’t funny. They can call a Mercedes (SUV) luxury all they want... but I call bull! The seats are horrid and no room to lay back. I was used to a Suburban that we had with the kids and I honestly have hated the Mercedes from day one. Very happy to report we have another Suburban that will be making the journey this time!

This trip will be very close to both of our birthdays too- 46 for me and 48 for B! Getting awfully close to the big 5 0!!! At least he will beat me there. ;)

ADRs made for this trip-
BoG dinner (I want to try the new menu and eat with beast- I am a 3 year old)

Also have a CS booked here too because I love the pork. (Almost canceled dinner and I still may, but I doubt it. I love the Beast.)

Mama Melrose Fantasmic!
I have bad feelings about this going away so definitely have to do it again, just in case and it is and always will be my fave night show. I loved Wishes don’t get me wrong, but Fantasmic! is my thing!

Snow White Dining at Artist Point-
Very excited to try this, I love characters (again 3 year old) plus the food looks really good for a character meal.

Crystal Palace breakfast

‘Ohana (always, always eat here)

Cape May Cafe (Crab legs!)

We love snacking at the booths, so leaving one day open. We do the dining plan because it saves us money since we do eat and snack quite a bit when there- especially now that they added alcohol to both TS & CS.

We may take the last day and do a tour again or possibly the After Hours since we missed it last time having Stinker with us. (Assuming they have it) Up in the air about doing MK or DHS. I feel like DHS is going to be a nightmare for awhile so that makes me lean towards riding Slinky, Toy Story Mania, ToT, RnRC as many times as I can. The beauty of an empty MK is a hard thing to pass up though.

Also, hopefully this trip I will finally get to see Happily Ever After up close. Something always happens and I have only seen it from the Poly once.
My priorities will be Illuminations (with it leaving) and Fantasmic though.

So, with that- about 2 weeks til FP day and will be tweaking some things as we go along....

But... here we go!!!

Update- After the announcement of Star Wars Land early opening... August 29, the day after our Anniversary- 😑we always try to go on our anniversary or close to it. I canceled Our September (Late August trip) Took a lot of thought because we knew we were taking a break to let it die down somewhat, but expected to get that 4 day trip in. I can’t see making a trip smack in the middle of that chaos though.

Silver lining to this??? We added, ironically, May 4th, Star Wars Day to this trip. Go figure! No ADRs or anything this day, just a bonus. We will figure out another short trip hopefully before the opening.

Here is the double bad, non silver lining.

I don’t think we will be renewing our APs when they die In September. 😭😭

It just seems stupid, if we are taking a break. We will not be going until at least May next year and being tied to the renewal date expiration makes no sense right? It seems we would be better off, paying full price online and not having them be active until we do go back?
AP holders please chime in! The last time we had APs, we did not renew.

Same kind of situation. We turned 10 day park hoppers into APs in August 2015, went again in May 2016, because it was cheaper. Granted, with September, November, May, and a summer long weekend, we got way more bang for the buck this time (2018-2019) I know prices are going to go up, but you have 30 day window to renew correct? So 8/4 I can renew?( 9/4 they expire) If prices go up before then, I have to renew at new price- to my understanding? If they do not raise them by then (Lol) we would probably be stupid not to renew.
Thanks in advance, I know I am babbling!

44 or 43 days away and still tweaking! Can’t remember if I changed my chalkboard this morning.

I gave up my BoG because I just wasn’t feeling the 2 credits on Dining plan but also because Whispering Canyon Cafe added new skillets which look amazing. I love the antics and the food there and have only done it as part of the Backstage Magic Tour.

We debated very much adding several more days to this trip because of the early opening of Star Wars messing up our anniversary trip but in the end, we decided to stay at the beach for a week after we leave Disney. One of the best vacations we ever had was 10 days in Disney, followed by 7 days of glorious sand, surf and relaxation in 2008 I think, it was. I think we made a wise decision- at least that is what I keep telling myself.

We are not renewing our APs and instead will go back for an early, short anniversary trip in mid August before all insanity breaks loose, then a week at the beach in September. Our earliest next trip after that will be May of 2020. :-/ We will most likely buy APs online, and let them lie dormant until we know when we are going back. Just does not make sense right now to renew.

Also debating trying DCL. I have vertigo is the only thing holding me back right now. I can’t do piers, with slats, if I look down once, I am done.
Docks, if the water isn’t choppy I am fine, on a boat- (lake boat) good unless it stops and the water is choppy... then I will power puke. I know everyone says you can’t feel it, on a big ship, just worried my brain will still feel it. What a waste of money it would be, if I did get sick. 😑

Anyway, lots of time to figure all that out, just going to concentrate on this amazing vacation first!

For the record (and I’ve only been on 5 cruises) I can totally feel the ship move. Not all the time, of course. Mostly just leaving port. I usually take Bonine with me but rarely need it. I know people who are prone to motion sickness and have had really good results with the patches that your doctor can prescribe. So maybe there are options for you.

I will definitely ask about those when I go to the doctor next time! It is so weird I love rollercoasters but the dumbest things make me sick. The Tom Sawyer Island bridge for one. It paralyzes me I get so dizzy on it.
Your ADRs look like my ADRs... Thanks for mentioning the fantasmic package, my ADR day was today and I had made lunch at MM, but didn't think to do the package... so I redid it and now we will get the VIP seating.
I love the VIP seating package. Makes it so much easier, great seats now too, way better than they used to be a few years ago. Glad you got it! :)

My pick for name- is Sarabi, to go with Nala- it just has to be a Disney related name- B thinks we could come up with a better name- any suggestions to throw in the hat, appreciated!

Kiara is the name of the girl lion on the new Lion Guard cartoon. Simba and Nala's daughter.

For old Disney, if I ever get a girl cat, I want to name her Dinah, of course. Some might prefer Duchess from Aristocats.

I've been making some tweaks to my trip too LOL. I dropped a lot of ADR's, moved 'Ohana from Sunday to Thursday and added Trail's End to one of the days. My diet has gotten more restrictive and with the menu changes at some of the restaurants, I couldn't justify paying $20+ for a salad. So it's looking like more quick service than I was expecting. I refuse to give up on 'Ohana, even though I know it's all going to bother me later, so that's why I moved it to the end of the trip. But moving it also opened up the Sunday to possibly doing Typhoon Lagoon, weather permitting. I'm absolutely loving that buses are now going from the resorts to the water parks.

I also have vertigo and have to be careful. I can't go on stairs that you can see through because the riser thing is open. I have problems with staircases that descend into the center of the room instead of along a wall LOL. I even called the Disney Springs AMC Theater so I could find out about the seating in their Dolby cinema - glad I did because the back section on the room layout was actually a balcony and I couldn't do that. So I definitely have reservations about taking a Disney cruise next year (plus I'm prone to motion sickness) but I got a verandah and I'm hoping that having a balcony for fresh air and ability to look at the horizon will help if I have problems.

I love Duchess, but had a dog named that. Somehow Lilo came up, and since ‘Ohana is our fave place to eat, I think we may lean that way. I am so excited.. lol

Love Ohana! I am definitely weird with the vertigo, cannot wear glasses, they make me sick as a dog- tried for a month now. Stairs, I hear ya, therecwas a wax museum we went to and you could climb up stairs that were that see they metal mesh to have pic made with King Kong- I made it up a couple then sat down, B had to help me back down. It was horrid. Once I look down, I am so dizzy and sick, rollercoasters because they are fast do not bother me though. Go figure!? Lol

Enjoying your pre-trip and can't wait to read the rest of your report.
And that pirate cake was simply amazing! I don't know if you did it on purpose but the 3 canon balls together looked like a hidden Mickey!
Thank you! I was very pleased to see the cannon balls made a Hidden Mickey when I placed them. I did not do it intentionally but glad you noticed them too! :)
Beautiful kittens! So excited for you!
Thank you! I am so excited, it will give me something to look forward to when the trip ends. :)

Something similar happened to me at the car stunt show in HS. I started up the stairs, not knowing how high it was to the top, and got stuck on the first landing LOL. I was stuck there until everyone else finished going up. A cast member saw me there and asked what the problem was. I told him I was waiting for the crowds to leave so that I could slowly go down the stairs. I managed to get down with both his help and my husbands. He was nice enough to escort me to the handicapped section so that I could enter from the bottom of the stands. That whole thing was so embarrassing!!!!!!
