My husband & I are bringing our 5 year old girl to Disney for the first time (my first time going too!). We are going for 13 days and staying off-site. I've received many different suggestions from friends regarding renting a stroller or not. Do many of you still use strollers for your young kids while there?
Thanks!!

When we last went, our son was 4. He's a well-tempered kid with a lot of endurance, but I'm glad we brought our own stroller. The parks are so large for his small legs that it was good to have a break (coupled with a short afternoon break at the resort - we stay on site). The next time we go our younger son will be 4 and our oldest will be 7. We'll probably take a stroller again for our 4 y/o. That said, I'd take one for your 5 y/o. If you aren't sure, skip bringing your own stroller and rent one at the parks based on need.

On our first trip my daughters were 2yrs and 5yrs. We had a stroller for the 2yr old but our eldest walked everywhere. That said, our pace and distance covered were a lot less in those days

We were in Disneyland last month and my 6 year old used the stroller a few times (we had it for the baby but I would carry him so she could take a break sometimes). Some people find having a stroller a hassle; I find them to be an excellent place to store stuff ;)

First of all.....have an absolute Magical Trip!!! Your first and your daughter's first time will be super special. Now....
The first time we went, our children were 3 and almost 5. We rented strollers but found that they both wanted to walk 99% of the time. Walking will be slow, but let her set the pace and you will enjoy everything, especially those things that most people miss because they are rushing from fast pass to fast pass. If you find that she needs to rest, then you can rent as needed. Now that my kids are grown and we have visited with my granddaughter, we find the same thing.....she wants to walk. You have 13 days to enjoy the parks so there will be plenty of opportunity to explore at a slower pace....especially at The Animal Kingdom...so much to see. That might be the park where a stroller is necessary....so much ground to cover. You will be surprised when you are in the parks that you will see kids of all ages in strollers. I actually saw a girl in a stroller she got out and folded it herself to get onto the bus. I think that is pushing the age for riding in a stroller. Even if you decide to rent, don't get caught up in the rushing around....you will miss so much! In 13 days, you have the time to go slow and enjoy! Have a Magical Trip! :cat:

I'm taking my almost 5 year old in September and I'm planning on bringing her stroller. While she doesn't nap at daycare anymore, and we've been taking long walks to prepare for our trip, there is only so much her little legs can handle, and I'm not going to be carrying her. Hahaha. Luckily for us, she can pretty much fall asleep anywhere so my hope is that if she DOES get really tired and needs to rest I won't have to worry about bringing her back to the resort. We'll be going for 10 days and I know even if it isn't used the first day, it definitely will be at some point.
