I've stayed there several times. Stayed at PO Riverside too, but prefer FQ for it's more condensed size. Last time I was there (Jan of this year) we got building 5 on the poolside. (Just assigned to it, didn't request it.) This building, I think, is really the best! So close to pool, food court, bus stop, and the boat launch and walking path too. There is a gate to get in the pool on the building 5 side, so basically just walked out the door into the pool :
. Next time I will definitely request this building and hope for the best.
Because it is a smaller size resort than than Riverside , the food court is smaller, and the store is smaller as well. But both offer the usual offerings, with some New Orleans inspired meals in the Food Court. The sit down restaurant here closed years ago. But there is a bar area that had live bands playing at night which was quite popular. There is also an outdoor bar next to the pool. As well as a hot tub. Not sure if you are traveling with children, but there were kids activities at the pool in the afternoons.
Never had to wait too long (longest was 20 mins) for a bus to any of the parks. I also noticed a bus marked 'Internal Resort' which I assume runs between Riverside and FQ. The walk over to Riverside along the river is not long though, and very pretty, especially in the evening. And of course you are free to use any of the amenities at Riverside as well.
If you are taking Magical Express from airport, know that there are two stops prior to getting to FQ (Key West and Saratoga.) At least that's how it was the last few times I was there. So you will be on the bus for a while.
It is a very pretty resort, with a Mardi Gras theme, but not in a tacky way, and the ever-playing music really ties it all together. Nice ambiance. Have an awesome time, and hope you will update with your thoughts!
