First cruise line casualty

Looks the Covid shutdown has killed its first cruise line. Reports are that the crews are stripping valuables and equipment from the ships' interiors.

In the case of Pullmantur their current fleet is only 3 ships, which are on average 30 years old. Given the current climate I doubt they will find many buyers, so the scrap yard is a likely destination if their reorganization will indeed result in closure.

The article says that they decommissioned a 4th ship just a few months ago. The timing just seems like a bummer.

[EDIT] It was a different article that mentioned the 4th ship. I forgot which link I ended up posting. Sorry for any confusion.

I believe they also had a new ship (to them, an old RC vessel) on the horizon for 2021, I'm guessing that will not happen
