I'm planning on proposing to my gf,since we were suppose to go to wdw in summer 09,but I'm leaving next year 2010 for deployment:((I hate to leave her). I wish I could propose before I leave, but I want it to be special, so i thought of 2 ways to pull it off. The 1st was to take her to a character dinner(just bcuz I wanted mickey and minnie to witness, lol). I was gonna get her a cake and get a CM to bring it out with the characters(might be more just because of the occasion) if possible(even if it cost xtra, lol,I want it to be special for my girl). I also forgot to mention I'm planning this all around her birthday,so I was also thinking of doing it the same day(kinda seems like too much tho,but it's love). Instead of pulling the ring, I was gonna have it displayed on the cake, and I was gonna kiss her,so she wouldn't see the CM's or characters come to the table, then surprise! My 2nd plan was to propose during the fireworks. I would just reach around her with the ring in my hand and whisper Will You Marry Me? during the finale. So what do you think? If you have any comments and additions all replys welcomes.

I think it depends on how much of an audience you want. My fiance proposed at Cinderella's Royal Table with all those people looking on - so very out of character for him - but he wanted it to be a big deal for me. The fireworks idea is so very sweet and personal - and without all the crowd for the most part.

You could do fireworks AND dinner :)

The California Grille is atop The Contemporary and has an amazing view of The Magic Kingdom and beyond. If you speak with someone when making your reservation, and tell them that you are planning to propose they will almost certainly try their best to get you a window seat.

Make your reservations close to the time of Wishes. During Wishes, the restaurants lights dim, and they pipe the music in during the show. It's absolutely magical, and I know I would've loved to be proposed to during that. I went for my first anniversary, and it was one of my favorite experiences at Disney.

There are no characters there, and that is the one part that doesn't fit with your plan. It's an extremely nice & romantic restaurant though, and the food is top notch. Just another idea for you. Whatever you decide to do, best of luck. :)

Yeah, I think I'm do the dinner and fireworks since I'm planning the trip around our brithdays(mine is july 1st and her is july 5th,so cool!:)). Then I've talked to alot girls:hammer: on the subject saying the dinner/firworks is the best idea, beause it's personal. So thats my choice, thanks for the help:sohappy:! 1 thing I was wondering tho, would it be a bad thing if I wore my uniform to the park on 4 of july, I don't think Disney would have a problem with it(would they?)!!!??? It's her first trip also, I was wondering what other things could do far as our birthdays and her 1st visit?

Hello! I think the California Grille is a wonderful idea, they have amazing food and amazing views! Also, a fireworks cruise is a wonderful, private way to enjoy the fireworks and have a perfect proposal setting. What you can also do is contact Disney Floral and Gifts. They have really fun ideas, and can come up with things that suit you as a couple, like if you have a favorite character, favorite ride, etc. They even have engagement specialists in that department. Check out their website which is www.disneyflorist.com, they even have a link for engagements! You can have the help of a glass slipper, or a specific card message telling her to go somewhere for a magical moment, etc. All of their offerings can be delivered to your table/cruise, or back at your hotel room, which would be a great way to celebrate afterwards! Hope this helps and best wishes!!!
