probably a controlled burn. If nothing is on the news about it at this point that is what i would bet on. They try to stay ahead of major forest fires around this time of year in Florida.

We could see the smoke in the distance as we exited Epcot at International Gateway about 5 pm. At 5:30 very heavy thunderstorms rolled through and are still dwindling now as I sit on the balcony at BCV.

Because a lot of pictures showed what looked like a massive fire ON Disney property. Also, since I'm not from Florida and don't get down as often as I'd like, I don't know much about its flammability.

The entire state is highly flammable.

You're right, it was very close to the western edge of Disney Property. Reminds me of a nasty brush fire in 2005 that went along Turkey Lake Road and also spread to Westwood/Central Fla Parkway by Seaworld. Ash fell at Epcot/Studios for two days.

Newsworthy, IMO.

I remember a bad one when I went to Uni about 10-15 years ago.
Walked in the gate and the smoke was so thick I couldn't see Hitchcock.

Still can't see Hitchcock, but that's another complaint altogether...
