Yep, that was the premise of the film... at least the way Wes Craven crafted it. Perhaps Blumhouse keeps that aspect of the story intact or move towards a different direction.

Hope to see IT 2 this weekend, but my friend and I are going to have to carve 3+ hours out of our day- the movie is 170 minutes long

Bill Hader was my favorite part of the film. He was phenomenal.
I agree with you about the runtime. They probably could have cut the Bowers plot.
