I am going for my 1st time to the Halloween party this Oct and I would love some ideas for costumes for me. My daughter is not sure if she wants to dress as a princess or if she wants to dress as someone from the Nut Cracker she is thinking of the sugar plum fairy or one on the snow fairies. Any photos from the party would be really nice to see!!

Sorry do not have a photo, but when I attended a Mickey's Not so Scary party in October 2007, I saw a women dressed up as Mary Popins, and I saw a girl dressed up as Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas. I also saw three women on the monorail dressed as Snow White, Minnie Mouse, and Aurora.

My DD dressed as Princess Aurora, of course!

Otherwise, I saw a little boy dressed as Pinochio, strings and all! It was fantastic!

The best family we ever saw were Star Wars characters - dad as Darth Vader and he stayed in character all the time - people where having pics taken with him.

wait a minute, you can dress up? I thought you wernt allowed?

forget halloween horror nights, im going 2 dis if that's the case

Are you serious?
Of course you can dress up. Just no masks covering your face and nothing off color.

Generally, some of the most clever costumes were families or groups that dressed as a theme. I've seen things like Jack Sparrow with assorted pirates and wenches, Cruella and Dalmations, Pan Tink and lost boys. Some very clever folks for sure.

One person said they saw vader, isnt that a mask?

And what do you mean off color, (I already have the entire cosplay including the contacts) how about this

Yes, there are some that do wear masks, and you occasionally see someone with a full coverage mask like Davy Jones or Darth Vadar.

The posted guidelines are as follows:

COSTUMES
. Guests are encouraged to wear costumes to enhance the event feel
. Costumes should be child-friendly and not obtrusive or offensive
. Adult Guests may wear masks, but masks must not obstruct vision
. Guests that "look like" our Disney characters should will be politely informed that they may not pose for pictures or sign autographs for other Guests

As far as "off color" or in Disney words "offensive"; costumes with $exual overtones, excessive gore, gang type costumes or things of that nature are what is inferred.

Clearly a mask like the Darth Vadar does obstruct vision, but some discretion is used. Also, as always seems to be the case, there are those who feel the need to push the limits.

I have seen various anime styled costumes, particularly Kingdom Hearts characters. That should be no problem.

Generally speaking, think kid friendly costumes rather than dress to impress at a bar or adult party.
I hope that is clearer for you.

One of the cutiest ones that I have sceen is Dad dressed as Prince Charming pushing his daughter dressed as Cinderella in a stroller made up to look like her coach.

The family and I typically go with the pirate theme.

Thanks, this helps ALOT. By off color I was thinking more scary, sexual never crossed my mind....but then again I remember now, I went to high school....

But yeah I didnt wanna say anime b/c idk how many people like/ watch it at WDW magic (many people I talk to havent even heard of anime, but then again sometimes ill be watching something n someone will come up n b like 'what anime is that?'). That was def my con costume, n thats why i posted it. Then again a lot of kinds know about naruto, so they would probably even know who i was

As for jack sparrow at megacon 2 years ago, I saw the BEST jack sparrow, COMPLETLY talked IDENTICAL to J dep, walked like him looked like him, and his girlfriend wanted a pic wit me in my cosplay, i thought she was NUTS. I mean I had the look down but the dude had the manerisms, voice tone, inflections, and grammer JUST like Jdepp

On a side note I heard that Jdepp has a hardtime letting go of characters, so even after shooting he'll dress up for weeks after and do his usual erans and stuff while dressed up as that character. I started thinking it was Jdepp except this dude was like 5'9 n most actors r in the 6's

Actually quite a few male actors are on the short to average side. Depp comes in at 5'9" and Orlando Bloom is just under 5'11". You want to see something really entertaining check out AC/DC in person. Angus Young comes in at a whopping 5'2".

I love your costume!!!

Maybe we will do a theme my DD loves tinkerbell and I could be Wendy and if I was really mean I could make my DH be Peter Pan :ROFLOL: I think he would go for Captin Hook though he's more of a villian lover.

My daughter who was 22 at the time dressed as Minnie, she & I worked on the costume for a month & she even had a few little ones starring at her with a questionable look on their faces. All she needed was Minnie's head & I swear she was a dead ringer! That's her in the picture. We plan on dressing up this year too, it was lots of fun!!

We have never dressed up but I can tell you that the adults who dress up get more candy....The party is a total blast from start to finish. I love it and hope to go again this year.

Would you say you can do everything in 1 night of the party or would you suggest 2? I am not worried about hitting the rides since I can do that during the rest of my trip. My DD wants to trick or treat, get photos of the characters in their costumes, and see the parade. Is there anything else that is a not to miss?

I think one night is more than enough. Like you I don't worry about the rides, but make it a point to take in the parade, shows and fireworks. And of course the trick or treating. I don't know of many who have done more than one party in a year.
