Has anyone else watched this show? I am half-way through and cannot believe what I am seeing! It's not a bad thing to cut back and save. But, serving a meal of dumpster food to your friends? NEVER.

OMG Yes! I saw 1 episode and it was the one where the guy is taking second hand food from people and dumpster diving for food! They'd go somewhere to eat and he'd ask people for their leftovers! WTH?

I will not eat anything at a certain relative's house because of this - she is a "freegan." Fortunately, she lives across the country, so it isn't a problem.

I am right there with you. TLC and the History Channel should be stripped of their names. The only thing you learn from shows like Ancient Aliens, Honey Boo Boo and Long Island Medium is that far too many people in this country are about as sharp as a basketball.

FREEGAN. I've never heard this term. But it makes me laugh. The world today has so many amazing technologies and programs and ways to save but still be eating fresh food and then there are people who just don't care. What's the money you save worth - eating garbage? "Oh how did you afford that new Coach purse - by eating dumpster leftovers from the bar across the street" ...OH - FANCY!!!!!

She would never purchase a Coach, or any other, purse. Rarely buys clothes, and only when she absolutely has to do so.

It would also help if consumers had to choose which cable channels to buy. Seriously, if someone is asked if they want to spend x dollars on Honey Boo Boo, would they? I think not. Media companies over-saturated the market with too many cable channels and they have to resort to trash like this to justify a channel's existence.

i watched one episode, got sick to my stomach, and stopped watching. I cannot believe some of the things people do. I am for saving money, but some of its going too far.

My theory, from watching more episodes, is that it is fake. Just like Breaking Amish. It's like a bad wound- you want to look away but can't! LOL

I didn't know we were talking about a TV show and I thought you saw someone at Disney World eating from a dumpster.

I will argue to an extent on History. Modern Marvels, Pawn Stars, and American Pickers all offer a view at History outside of direct US, World, or Religion history. History of products, companies, and tech with how they came to be are alright in my book. I find most US History shows on any network to be very far in left field. Might be knowing historians in several US History fields that have caused me to see it that way.

Now How Booze Built America on Discovery Channel.. Thats a good show! Entirely different but overly true perspective.

Modern marvels and American Pickers I will give you, Pawn Stars on the other hand is just manufactured drama with a dash of history thrown in. Calling them good history programming is like throwing veggies on a meat pizza and calling it health food.

My main contention with the history channel are shows like Monster Quest, Ancient Aliens and the like. Today they have 7 hours worth of Nostradamus programming. When this guy is a go to expert for one of your shows, you have lost the right to suggest that you are presenting educational programming.
