After listening to the different descriptions of the queue line and the theming of the attraction as a whole, it reminds me very much of the Indiana Jones adventure at Tokyo DisneySea. Has anyone been there? It is such a wonderful example of PERFECT imagineering theming. A very 4-D, totally immersive experince. Unlike a lot of things at WDW, Tokyo DisneySea finds a way to mold space to surround the park guests..especially in the 'Mysterious Island' land.
Has anyone been there? It's hard to understand what I'm talking about, but I have a feeling that E:E will be this way, just from what is seen so far at the construction site. Also, Tokyo DisneySea is about 3 years old, and when calculated, I think that the original plans for E:E were drawn up at the same time that TokyoDisneySea was being constructed, so perhaps the same imagineers worked on both projects.....
Either way.....I CAN'T WAIT!!! :sohappy:

What kind of smells?

Will we see any merchandies form the Nepal /Everest area, like tea,or any home made stuff from the people of ASIA?

Will there be any real ice in the mt.? How about snow?

THANKS!!!

What kind of smells? Not sure what a Yeti smells like...Jim Hill asked that in an article a few weeks back.

Merchandise from Nepal? Maybe.

Real snow? There will be man-made snow, like at Ice Station Cool...at least back when it was working.

What is ice station cool?

I hear the Yeti might be brown!
I also heard the train goes underground at some point!
I assume there will be glowing crystals like matterhorn/JTCE!

I remember reading an article about Eisner testing out different smells the yeti will have. It went on talking about how he micro manages everything, and that it is silly that he would spend his time just to pick out the smell.

There is suppose to be a water fall, no ice, but from what I have read, it will be cooler then normal in the mountain.

uh.....where did you hear that? Ice cool station is in WDW and used to have snow in the small entrance to a large giftshop that has coke merchandise and fountain machines with coke drinks from around the world

They've told you wrong ;) Seriously I have been in the park on several occasions late at night, and the place is superbly lit. It isnt flodlit, but it is lit exactly the way an animal kingdom should be lit. Wonderfully atmospheric.

I have quite a few pictures of the park at night, I will post them up on the site when I get a minute.

I have to say that AK is great at night! Its a whole other park in the dark...I agree Steve the park is lit as it should be...I can't wait to see EE finished and the lighting it will get at night will surely match the spectacular look the Tree of Life gets...I'm even more excited thinking about all the space left for expansion on the park...after all we can only hope EE is just the beginning...

i guarantee you that when they see what type of impact E:E has on AK, all parks will wonder what to add next.

Animal Kingdom is amazing after dark. Walking the paths were an attraction in their own right. I walked through that hue zigzaggy foliaged queue for Dinosaur and I was all alone and it was kinda freaky.

The lighting was superb. I cannot wait to see the lighting EE gets around its base.

My eyes could be decieving me, so someone else take a look and tell me what they see, but I see in the photos that steve posted, the program on the screen says "Maya 4.0" in the top left corner.

I thought it was odd that they would use Maya for that. It's pefectly capable of doing so, but there are better programs for such a project. Maya is the base program used by Pixar, although they have modified it a bit, no doubt. Disney was using it as well, back in the days of the active Florida studio, and I'm sure they still use it now, but I've seen no first hand evidence of it as in Florida.

And yeah, as for home use for fun, good luck. Back when I was in school, the full version was thousands, and I do means THOUSANDS of dollars. There was a pirated version floating around our school, of course, but that was a long time ago.

Well, those pics weren't of the ride's blueprints, those were used obviously for promotion and so Maya is probably the best fit for that. I do know Disney uses Maya. The reason, is beacause when Mission Space was testing, the CGI in the preshows weren't done yet and the source of maya was displayed in the animations.

And also, if you really want Maya, check out the student version (you can't save). And if you want the full version, check out the company that makes that program's aditude on pirating. I know Adobe actually supports pirating of their photoshop software because it keeps photoshop as the number one used program meaning that buisnesses are more likely to use Photoshop than anything else. Maya may be the same because it is the dominate program. If the company doesn't care or supports the pirating, then do so (with of course the neccesary virus scanners). And if they don't like pirating, then don't pirate.

Anyway, I can't wait to ride Everest. I should be able to ride it next year if everything plays out well.

What is going to be inside the Mt. besides the Yeti and the man made snow?

When will Everest show up on the WDW site?

No man maid snow, but there will be nosies, a waterfall down the side, and appearently some AC. It would cost way too much money to add man made snow in a building that size. Or let me put it this was, the fact that guest are constently moving and would not really take notice to man made snow. Basicly the low attention would not justify the cost to have man made snow.
At the very least if Disney does use snow, they would only use it for about 3 months then stop using it. They would look at the cost and say this (man made snow) can go.

(edit)

I see that Lee states that their will be real snow, lee seems to be the most knowledgeble person her about EE, so guess I could be wrong. I read that there wasn't going to be snow for the reason I stated above, but I have read incorrect info before and Lee's info has been solid so far, so I will take his word for it.

But I still stand by the belief that Disney will probably not use it very long.

I haven't heard in a while...but early on the plan was for man-made show during a portion of the ride.
I'll ask around about it...

Well, maybe to some extent. From what it looks like, the turn after the drop, and the helix around the back look to be under ground level, however, not underground like a tunnel.

I think the Indy ride in California is better than the Indy ride in Tokyo. It has a lot to do with the queue - it really sets up the idea that you're deep underground in an ancient, until now hidden temple. Tokyo's is a lot harder to swallow with the giant square show buidling dominating the entire Lost River Delta section, and the massive open first room in the queue. The ride score is also all chopped up in Tokyo, so as to not have to rescore it they just cut and repieced the original California score - the result leaving some sections completely silent without music at all to make it fit in the new arrangement. Add to that the lack of the Hall of Promise with the moving wall effect- a definite nod goes to the original version.
