Expansion Plans at Disney's California Adventure™ Park

Plans for new additions to Disney's California Adventure park were formally unveiled by Cynthia Harriss, President of the Disneyland Resort, during a ceremony in celebration of the park’s first birthday on Friday, February 8.

"A Bug’s Land" will be an all-new playland opening this fall within the Golden State area of Disney's California Adventure park. Inspired by characters and settings from the Disney-Pixar animated film A Bug's Life, "A Bug’s Land" will encompass the existing "It’s Tough To Be A Bug" attraction and Bountiful Valley Farm presented by Caterpillar, with the addition of five new attractions in "Flik’s Fun Fair," a specially designed environment which will offer the young and the young-at-heart a look at the world from a bug’s point of view.

New attractions in "Flik’s Fun Fair" are being designed for the enjoyment of parents as well as children. They will include:
"Flik’s Flyers," a simulated bug-size hot air balloon ride
"Tuck & Roll’s Drive ‘Em Buggies," a crazy drive-it-yourself bug car ride under "P.T. Flea’s" circus tent
"Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train," a miniature railroad ride
"Francis’s Ladybug Boogie" aboard spin-‘em-yourself ladybugs
"Princess Dot’s Puddle Park," a playground themed around a giant-size sprinkler

Also coming to Disney's California Adventure park is "The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror," a California version of the chilling and thrilling supernatural adventure which has proven wildly popular at Disney-MGM Studios at Walt Disney World®. "The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror" will open in 2004 in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot area of the park.

One Hundred Mickeys Art Exhibit Opens Feb. 23
In celebration of Walt's 100th birthday, The Disney Gallery in Disneyland® park will open its doors to reveal a special art exhibit featuring 100 images of Mickey Mouse created by Eric Robison. The exhibit will be on display Feb. 23 - Sep. 8. and will give guests the opportunity to view a variety of artistic styles and mediums, from charcoal on paper to oil on canvas. Flicks fun fair doesn't sound like it will live up to the Bug's Life movie. Another cheap attempt by Disney to creat some magic that is going to fail. A bunch of carnival rides that bring the Disney name down.

Unfortunatelly I think I have to agree... I was just looking at the comparisson between Tokyo Disneysea and California Adventure (mouseplanet.com)... its really sad... considering Disneysea was not designed by Disney!
