Ever had an accident at WDW?

The subject is a bit misleading, I'm not talking about a car accident or anything like that. I'll let you in on my story...

On a past trip a few years ago, I had a dinner reservation at Boma in Animal Kingdom Lodge, so I made my way by bus over to the hotel, and of course, for anyone who has ever eaten at Boma, you know that the restaurant is downstairs from the lobby area.

So I get to the top of the stairs, and on the way down I figure I'd adjust the lens on my camera to take some pictures of the restaurant. Well, on the way down the dimly-lit staircase, I was looking down at my camera, and missed the last step and fell flat on my face. Down I went, the camera went flying (luckily I had the shoulder strap around my neck, but it took a crash on the floor), and all I remember is having people try to lift me up off the floor. I had no idea what happened. I ended up with a big gash on my knee and a scraped elbow. Both were bleeding somewhat but none of the cast members offered to help in any way (not that I was expecting it). But I have to commend those kind and caring people who were waiting for a table, and helping me get up off the floor and asking me if I was all right.

I felt like a complete doofus afterward, and didn't really want to draw attention to myself, but this could have been avoided if I had been watching where I was going!

Anyone else ever had such an event happen?

Slipped off the end of a slidewalk at Universal and fell rushing to catch a bus in the rain once. Damaged a shoulder enough to need surgical repair but didn't break anything. The people there could not have been more helpful. Totally my fault.

Not WDW, but close. Last fall at Universal Halloween Horror nights I rolled my ankle on the edge of the sidewalk literally about 5 feet after exiting a house. Couldn't correct and fell all the way to the ground. The team members at the end of the house asked if I was okay as I shrugged it off. When I eventually looked down my knee and leg were scraped up pretty good.

A day or so later my back was pretty sore which took a couple weeks to loosen up.

Hmmm, maybe a little painkiller was involved with the delayed onset? ;) HHN is a whole lotta crazy fun.

Yes.
In April 2015 on a solo trip I went to the bathroom that is in the same building as the Christmas store and as I walked out I was not paying attention and fell right over the short brick wall that jets out from the building.
My chin was bleeding and I was dazed but no one had actually seen me fall.
I walk up to someone with their face in their phone and was like hey so I fell over there and I need help.
He got some CM's from the Christmas store and they called the paramedics.
They looked at my chin and said I'd need stictches.
So Disney got me a ride to the urgent care where I got stitches and then they drove me back to my resort.
I also had HUGE bruises on my lower stomach and scrapes and bruises on my lower legs.
The amount of damage was nuts and it was because of the angle at wich I hit the wall as I went tumbling down.
I get the feeling I'm not the only one that fell and internally said "Disney tear down this wall" because if you'll note next time you're there the wall is gone and the cement where it was is lighter than the cement around it so you know where it is lol.

Years ago, back when I could walk, I was at the bus stop outside the MK, waiting for the BC bus. Suddenly, across the way, I saw the BWV bus show up, so I decided to run and catch that bus, figuring I could just walk over from BWV to BC. Well, right in the middle of the road (the buses were in different rows), I tripped and fell flat on my face. Adding to my embarrassment, this was a solo trip, so Disney CMs came running to the solo woman's aid as I lay on the ground. The good news is that the bus took pity on me and gave me a ride directly to the BC-I think that for whatever reason;) they doubted my ability to walk all the way from the BWV at that point.

From what I see in that picture, that small/short wall served no purpose whatsoever! Pretty sure others might have tripped over it, specially at night. Glad Disney assisted you.

I did almost the exact same thing at Epcot about 5 years ago. I was taking pictures in World Showcase when I fell down 3 or 4 stairs and landed on my arm, which began bleeding a lot. Luckily nothing was broken nor did I need stitches, but I'm still shocked it wasn't more serious based on how I landed.

Hi Bob! Don't tell me, it was near the entrance to the America Gardens Theater, right?

Nice to hear form you! Do us proud, man! 👍

My DW and I like to sit and watch the people go by when we take a break in one of the parks. You wouldn't believe the number of people that can't chew gum and walk at the same time. Lots of them are on their phone and walking into trees, rocks, strollers, fountains and the best one is walking on to boat to go back to EPCOT from The Studio and fell overboard.

I was once leaving the lobby of the Yacht Club to catch my ride to the airport and I tripped on the mat before you get to the automatic doors, I fell and sprained my wrist. I immediately went to the desk and gave my contact info, they gave me info on who to call in their insurance department once I got home. When I got home I went to the ER, they put it in a splint that I could remove when necessary, I had to keep it in there for a week or two. My insurance paid for the ER visit, but I did call Disney back and let them know what had happened. They sent me a 1-day ticket. This was in January 2009.

Not me but I've always been curious how many people have suffered sprained ankles on the tracks in the asphalt at Magic Kingdom
I got my foot stuck in there once, then five minutes later turned around and almost fell flat on my face...in almost the same spot. 🤦‍♀️

One trip, our first day at Disney (we were in MK), one my sons fell and got a scrape on his forehead. Fifteen minutes later, his brother did the same thing and they had matching forehead scabs all week.

When my son was six, he fell asleep in my lap heading back to BLT, and we were sitting in the back part of the bus. I was going to let my son continue to sleep, so I got up holding him when we got back to the resort. My family went down in front of me, and I started on my way off the bus as well. Needless to say, there was one more step down from the back than what I thought. I missed the last step and tripped and fell all the way out the back door. it was like I fell in slow motion, and all I could think on my way down was, ”if I fall on my son, I will hurt him terribly.” I turned as I was falling so he would land on top of me. Many jumped to our rescue To make sure we were ok. My son was startled awake and asked why we were lying on the ground. All I could do was laugh uncontrollably because I was in so so embarrassed and in so much pain. My legs were skinned, and I landed on my right arm and shoulder. I continued to laugh all the way through the lobby, the elevator and as soon as I sat down, the pain tears began to fall. after Tylenol and an ice pack, back to the park we went. Years later, however, I had to have surgery on my shoulder and the surgeon asked what trauma caused such an injury.

Well, to be fair, the three of us are pretty notoriously clumsy, lol. When I was 15, I was at a convenience store and on the way out my friends and I stopped to talk just outside the door. When we went to leave, I turned around so fast that I almost lost consciousness for a couple of seconds because *concrete column - meet face*. 😂

Oh gosh...

I've sprained my ankle multiple times at WDW. Most recently while getting escorted off a ride; that was fun. It's to the point that I just bring an ankle brace with me when I travel.

I was walking up the steps at TSM, walking a bit too fast, slipped, and fell on my face. I ended up with a bruise, that was it. It was Super Bowl Sunday and there was no one there; I was a bit too excited.

I got a splinter once running my hand over a bridge at Blizzard Beach. We had to go to first aid for that one.

I stepped on a bee on the way into the pool at BC. I vaguely remember feeling something sharp, but didn't realize until I saw the giant welt on my foot walking around Epcot later that day.

I'm probably missing some. I'm really klutzy.
