"Epcot Promenade Stucture" removal

Nobody would be happier than me if the tarps were removed (well maybe epcot explorer would be happier)

If they do remove the tarps, the tombstones, and all that other Pressler era mall trash will they ever restore the the ponds? The water element was great.

For that to happen, the main Future World traffic flow would probably have to be restored through Innoventions, and I just don't see that happening until a serious change in management, someone smart enough to use the area as it is inherently designed. The tip board/pin central would also have to be removed.

Tip board could be moved somewhere and i always assumed pin central would be removed at the same time as the tarps. Is that pin trading nonsense still popular?

Interesting news. I am thinking of the tarps as well. :)

It's actually rather stagnant now, but I wish it was worse, IMO. I just don't like the pins nowadays. Too expensive and cheaply made.

But the saying is true:

"Once a pin collector, always a pin collector!*"

* And then later curse on how much you spend over the years and how half-arsed current pins are now. :lookaroun:lol:

I remember back in 2000-2001 pin trading was so popular that they gave MGM studios a new park icon based on one of the pins (complete with a giant pin station underneath it.)

Dark Days.

Oh, please let this be the tarps. If they were to go that would be a truly wonderful Christmas present. :)

And it ends up being the stage, I'm good with that too!

Hm, I don't know how accurate this is, but Mapquest essentiall puts 1400 AotS as being the Mexico pavilion in World Showcase. Again, I don't know it thats necessarily accurate, but take it for what you will.

I remember going at what seemed like the height of Pin Mania which was in 2002. We went to go check out at one of the Contemporary gift shops and the woman asked us "and what pins have you selected" Um......none. She looked at us like we were truly messed up :hammer:

I'm really not sure how we went from "promenade" to the tarps. The address for the permit is likely the office or work area that deals with the paperwork. The promenade is World Showcase. Maybe the work could be in relation to Donald's new meet and greet set.

I talked about an idea in another thread that a large tilted screen could be installed over the entrance to each breezeway, to fill in the gap in the overhang/awning that was removed when Innoventions came along, to serve as a tip board/directional signage. Pin central could very easily go in MouseGear. The fanboy in me would love to see it in a reopened upstairs section, but it could just as well replace a lot of that merchandise that is sold EVERYWHERE else across Walt Disney World. Once again, I don't think anything like any of this is very likely until someone smart is in charge.

I am wondering the same thing. The sun canopies (tarps) are a little ways away from the promenade.

World Showcase Promenade is in World Showcase, but promenades are all over the park. Just because Disney doesn't 'officially' refer to it as "Future World Promenade" doesn't mean it wouldn't be referred to as a promenade as a descriptive indicator on a document filing. The more telling thing is the address of the promenade that is having the work done.

The Avenue of the Stars address is for the WDI office behind FW east.
"Promenade Structure".......no clue, but I don't think it's the tarps (which I like, by the way...).

Yep I get the feeling its one of the structures left over from Flower and Garden that has remained selling merchandise, or perhaps one of the AV control areas.

The individual structures in the park do not have unique addresses. The county filings require physical addresses so they use a general address for the park. Could be anything.
