It was just product testing, trying out different vendors. They have been having issues with poor quality fireworks from certain vendors. So they tried out some different types.

The ALF system is fine, it was all product issues mainly with the timing chips.

Someone explain ALF please. I assume it is an entire pyro system but wouldnt mind some reading materials

Air Launched Fireworks. The first 2 shots of ROE are the ALF system and the rest are normal shots. The ALF system is mainly used at Disneyland and just used for part of ROE.

Im gonna guess a variation of Reflections...
But how annoying would that be!! I can hear the Seagulls from Epcot's Finding Nemo attraction yelling "Mine Mine Mine Mine" all the way from the Yacht Club parking lot in the morning and at night. I cant imagine Fireworks for an hour at midnight!!

They have to test them sometime, and it's bad show to do it while guests are there, especially if they have a mis-fire or malfunction.

More ALF would be cool, but could it perhaps be holiday tag related? July 4th? A bit early to be testing, but who knows.

I figured it was a problem with the chips.
Does RoE use 2 or 3 chips per show? One is obviously in the comet but I can't tell if each shell has its own internal chip or a single external chip.

Three. Hopefully the supply issues will be sorted very soon and the chip mods will be completed too.

Oh ok. It could be done either way with the way those shells are launched on top of each other. In terms of cost, it should be better to go with a single chip for those two shells.

Found this video today showing some of the testing that went on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qT3Of6PCz48

Everything there was different except for the one at 0:23 which looks like it is used in Chaos.

The last shot would probably replace the 3" brocade comets or something like that used just before the finale. I really like the current comets but would not mind seeing these since they are silver and burn a lot brighter matching the hundreds of candle balls or comet tails just before those comets.

On a side note. A bunch of the shells in Wishes have changed for the better. There are some really nice new ones in there.

Are you referring to the seawall pyro? I think them looking brighter and silver is due to the camera being used - it looks like a cellphone camera which tends to show anything fairly bright as being pretty much white.

There was some sort of fireworks showing near the Epcot area on Sunday night (Apr 24th) some time between 10:30 and 11pm. I noticed it from Coronado Springs. Does anyone know what that was about?

There was a 10:00 Fantasmic show on Sunday. If it was around 10:30 it could have been the pyro from the finale.

I don't know about that. I think they're new comets.
