End of generic Disney Parks bags?

I get the reusable bag thing for the grocery store. Are you now going to be charged 10 cents for a paper bag at the theme parks? It doesn't say anything about stores that aren't grocery, liquor or convince. Are they really included?

Eh, I doubt it. The bags they use are bit thicker than the normal "Thank You" bags, and they may be able to convince the government that they are in fact, reusable. Then they simply start charging 10 cents per bag, and voila! DLR thanks the government for a new profit line.
So how long before this becomes an upcharge event? For an additional $25 you can get the limited edition bags!

Interesting news piece to see California are banning all stores from using plastic bags

http://rt.com/usa/192356-california-bans-plastic/

Can we all say a silent prayer that this will be the end of generic Disney Parks bags and that we return to WDW themed plastic bags?

... I won't get my hopes up for theme printed napkins!
What WDW themed plastic bags are you refering too? As far back as I can remember (25 yrs), they always had plastic bags for the stores at Disney World, they would just change the color and picture on the front every few years of so. I'm curious what you are refering to.

But these are Magical bags!!!

I'm guilty of disney bag hoarding... One disney or not... Because they're different from the only Disney Store in the area and...well, I got them at the parks.

I have used them for "special occasions" like my little cousins fifth birthday (she was tickled pink by the bag let alone the plush...purchased from target... That was inside!) and Christmas presents have been known to get wrapped in them .

Don't take it for granted, those who don't get to the parks often cherish the littlest, goofiest things.

Oh, and yesterday at my moms house, I saw the -empty- box of coconutties shaped like Mickey heads from the Polynesian. I didn't have to ask why she kept it. I'm my mothers daughter.

Like I said. The little things...

They were specific to Walt Disney World NOT Disney Parks.

I do miss the specific bags. It was also nicer to bring home souvenirs to friends and family in them. I didn't visit "Disney Parks" I visited Disney WORLD!

Ah, I see what your saying. Under the 'Disney Parks' on the bag is a link for a website for shopping to find items online. So I think they labeled it that way to help promote the website. (just a thought). But now I understand what you meant. :)

Why do dissenters always have to play the "people will lose jobs" card? I fail to see how that is possible here - are people suddenly going to stop buying groceries because they can't get a disposable bag? Seems like a better argument would be that the primary effect here is not environmental but economic - shifting the bag price onto the consumer.

But yes, if California has to use a different, reusable bag and Walt Disney World has its own supply, then they might avoid the generic Disney Parks stuff.

Buying just one bag design, and using it absolutely everywhere, is fractions of a cent per bag cheaper than custom designs. Makes perfect sense to the sharp pencil guys, I'm sure, but you lose something of the park experience when you compromise on the details (imagine custom designed bags at Memento Mori...).

On a somewhat related topic, what sort of bags are used at Hilton Head Island and Vero Beach? Disney Parks doesn't really work there.

Amusingly DLR gets that. Stores like Vault 28 have their own custom bags (nice thick paper ones, rope handles, etc at that).

Marketplace Co-Op in DTD has it's own paper bag with rigid "rope style" handles. And they stuffed it with tissue paper. Nice touch, I liked it!

If you actually read the article, this only applies to grocery, drug store, liquor and gas stations. Retail stores at the mall and elsewhere will continue to offer bags which is what Disney falls under. This is what it is like already in LA County who had their own ban in place at the beginning of the year.

So no there won't be any change.

Doubt they'll change them, if you want resort specific bags you'll have to visit the Asian or French parks.

Which reminds me, I did see someone with a HKDL shopping bag the other day which I thought was neat.

Not the greatest example, but something like this, right?

I just wanted to point out that plastic bags are not THEMED to WDW, they may be DECORATED specific to WDW. Theming implies to bring to live a specific theme or story. A WDW plastic bag is a WDW plastic bag, so no theming required. But a nice decoration that is specific to WDW (heck, even a specific season) would be wonderful.

An example of a themed bag would be if a shop in France in the World Showcase would give you a bag that looks like it is from France instead of a Disney Parks (or even WDW) bag. Or the Emporium giving you an old fashioned paper bag with "Emporium" printed on it.
