Encanto-Coco-Villans Lands Project Abandoned in MK?

I was a little surprised that AK would be getting an Encanto-themed area with a "casita"... wasn't it announced last year that the same thing (or similar) was going to be in the MK behind Big Thunder, alongside a Coco area and a potential villains land?

With this "casita" landing in AK... it now makes me wonder if they abandoned all of what they shared last year?

I tried searching for this before posting, so forgive me if I missed it or missed a news article on this.

Just as today's announcements, last year's Blue Sky vision statements always should be taken as if they were political campaign promises. Over promise, under deliver because it sways the public onto your side even if you have zero intention of doing any of it.

IJ is not about animals
Encanto is not about animals
Neither is Kali. However it is about the environment, or used to beAnd fits with the region it’s in.

Everest too fits the original mythical beasts theme and fits in the area. But isn’t about animals.

I’m sure they can create a new “region” and have the rides fit the area. Indy can be on any kind of adventure, Encanto is set in the right geographical region. They can include the flora &/or fauna in it. Personally I wish they’d use Up as well.

Neither is Kali.

Correct

And it, too, should have been themed differently

IJ is about treasure and artifact hunting adventures

Encanto is about family/family roles and heritage

Anyway this is just more “let’s milk the property to the point of theme clash ……theme smeem; who cares!!”

So if they retheme dino land will we finally get an updated park entrance? No dragons and no dinos….so two out of the three entrance icons wont be relevant.

I would believe that Coco would be more relevant then Encanto in my opinion. I've heard rumors, maybe here not sure, that Disney is working on a stage production of Coco but maybe that was just a rumor.

Coco is also about family and heritage.

To expand upon @MisterPenguin’s reply: the original “aspirational theme” (the broad idea it’s aiming to express, as opposed to “manifestation theme,” which is the specific times/places, per Theme Park Design by David Younger) of DAK was was threefold—the intrinsic value of nature, the transformative power of adventure, and a call to action. The major attractions were supposed to embody those three things. Kali does precisely this, making it exemplary in carrying out DAK’s theme—except perhaps the call to action could have been clearer… maybe it should have been sponsored by Seventh Generation paper towels lol. (It’s also worth noting the use of “nature” rather than just “animals” in the theme statement, as that’s what the park is really about—that’s why the original name was to be Wild Kingdom until copyright issues got in the way. And of course, habitat destruction is the biggest human-created problem that wild animals face…)

Honestly, it makes more sense for Encanto and Coco to end up in the Tropical Americas section of DAK, especially if you're riding on the back of a spirit animal in the Coco ride (or whatever it was).

Villains still makes sense for MK but I'm curious what else will be coming to Beyond Big Thunder now!
