I agree with the Dinosaur > Indiana Jones crowd… I personally find Dinsoaur more fun (the preshow is fun and captures a spirit of childlike wonder paired with mind blowing negligence)
I thought it was just me. When I first visited WDW in 2011 Dinosaur up there with my favourite attractions at the resort.

I'd heard so much hype for IJA when I visited Disneyland years later I came off most disappointed. Yes it has great big sets but it all felt a bit pedestrian, there wasn't the same level of both fun and fear that Dinosaur evokes.

Great. That gives them even less incentive to actually put effort into this.

They can't even do brand new rides that are fun. The Ratatouille ride sucks.
I dont know but I will say this. Disney; Stop with the something is missing/have to find it plots!!! This has been overused so much now its a joke and with the TBA mess bringing this writing problem to the front...Encanto and Indiana Jones better be completely different than this weak lazy copycat plot that keeps getting infused into everything.

Apparently, in the new ride, Indiana Jones and Marian own a thrift shop and Indiana Jones is looking for some new members to join his fantasy football team! (No boulders or Nazis, or snakes... sorry!)

When you put it that way... it makes it really sound like Jurassic Park. :hilarious:

I can understand why big fans of the Indiana Jones franchise would give the edge to the latter, but even if you concede the IJ version is better, I still think an original dinosaur themed ride is better than a clone of a ride that already exists at two other parks. If it’s a different (animal or regional themed) version of an IJ ride I will be less disappointed— but it seems like a waste of the new ride development budget to change a ride theme when a completely new ride could be added elsewhere instead—especially in WDW that has plenty of land for expansion.

I'm a fan of the franchise, but that has no bearing on my comparison between the rides. But I agree that I would rather an original dinosaur ride than Indy.

Yeah, I don't understand the majority. It's great.

I honestly thought it was one of your japes.

I can see it. I've watched a lights-on version of the ride where people were reciting lines. And it was then that I realized I do have a nostalgic affinity for the preshow and a number of the lines.

The problem is it's just so much darkness and non-working effects. The reason I think Indy is better is the actual sets that aren't cutouts and darkness.

Dinosaur is a mess... but it's our mess... and it's a fun mess. It's a cult classic. It's the Rocky Horror of Disney. And... that is the closest I think those words have ever been together. :hilarious:

Sorry… I’m wracking my brain. What out of Imagineering’s output the last decade does this comment actually apply to? The Guardians rides I guess sort of have a McGuffin, but ones a prison break conceit.

Smugglers run I guess also has a McGuffin. But neither are find something missing plots.

I’m sure there’s something I’m overlooking, but in what way is this facing problematic overuse?

Am I the only one very excited for the possibility of a modern Indy ride? Think it could work out very well. Of course, they have to deliver.
I don't want Dinosaur to go away, but I am very excited about having a proper IJ ride come to WDW. I would have preferred it to be an addition going to DHS over a replacement in DAK

Not denying Dinosaur has fans. But its GSATs are supposedly pretty dismal. Clearly it needed to be improved.

Now that could have been as simple as a ride musical score and better lighting, that's probably 75% of the reason I don't personally really like it. But something needed to be done with it.
