So happy. That other blue sky was going to be awful. Adding a second water ride would've taken so much extra build time too, glad to see it go this route. With the new movie involving time travel, they may be able to use some existing Dinosaur (although I think it all needs to be replaced) effects.
They are still.adding a major ride which will take time

It’s not about asia or Africa either. But know what… they are both SETTINGS that work with the park because of what they actually are focusing on.
Exactly! South America, the Amazon etc. is a natural next step in the park. Heck, they could do a whole area on the insects of the Amazon as part of a new animal trek... cheap to build/maintain, interesting to kids, and fitting.

And there was a Nazi monkey.
I laughed way harder at this than I should have 🤣

Oh sure, I'm not advocating actually turning it off -- I just think it's wrong to frame it as a thrill attraction like the EMV motion is the only thing going for it.
Nah, having more than the thrills doesn’t make it not a thrill ride… its just more. Not really great footing there IMO

The ride is rough… its just worth it. Unlike dinosaur

I feel like this one is more solid...Vaughn was not in the picture for the last bluesky, clearly he has done some major retooling in Imagineering for the better thankfully if it can all get pushed through, it sounds much more concrete compared to the last, will see.

I think it has more to do with Iger and the execs putting themselves in the position where they have to direct all departments to cut costs to shore up losses from the Disney + initiative and failing film division but also need something to announce new for the parks to drive attendance.

The Moana attraction looked like an e-ticket and im assuming the zootopia concept was based on the Shanghai version that is filled with state of the art animatronics and effects. It’s much more economical to just redress the existing area and convert dinosaur into Indiana jones (which uses the exact ride system, layout, and show building size anyway) and build an Encanto manor on the dinorama lot.

Vaughn and Iger get the “new attractions” pop, serves as marketing to key franchises, and attendance boost at less than half the cost. That’s why Iger brought Vaughn back he has the right kind of “creativity” for the company.

If done well encanto could be a great addition. Colombia is one of the most if not the most diverse country in the world. I believe they have the most species of birds in the world and every habitat you can think of. I was just there and there is a part of the country where you can be on a year round 95 degree beach and like 80 miles away there are snow capped mountains. Very wild

The Land is Tropical Americas. A real place just like Asia and Africa. Where are there real dinosaurs today?
I don't know, where are all the magic houses and people with the ability to control the weather and magically conjure up plants in the actual Tropical Americas? Heck, where are the magical artifacts? And by that logic, we should get rid of Festival of the Lion King as well, since, y'know, there aren't any talking lions in the real Africa.
2)Again, Tropical Americas is the Land. Encanto and Indy are residents and a visitor. Think of the land first.
Ah, yes, how stupid of me to want a land in Disney's ANIMAL Kingdom to focus on animals and not two IPs that have nothing to do with animals or conservation.
I think you might be in the complete majority of people wanting a busbar over tech and trackless.
Because the novelty has worn off, not every new dark ride needs to be trackless, and most of the recent trackless dark rides Disney has built are mediocre at best and lousy at worse (the Ratatouille ride, Runaway Railway, Tokyo's letdown of a Beauty and the Beast ride).
Let's all cry for about a month and then move on.
Could we stop trotting out "it's gonna happen, shut up and stop complaining about it" as a rebuttal for criticism of Disney's tearing out attractions? I doubt anyone who was upset about Mr. Toad being shut down was told to just shut up and accept it.
There's a MASSIVE expansion area between Asia and Rafiki's Planet Watch.

But it's too EXPENSIVE to build something from the ground up! All the money spent on it MUST be used to make Bob Iger even richer instead!

Look I get it. I love the Disney World of the past and the Imagineers that help make it what it is. I am not a fan of the lack of Imagination from the top Brass today and IP being shoved in everywhere possible. I hated they forced Imagineers to resign and ran off their best. I hate how we have hired interns and newbs to design the parks. I want original rides, shows and attractions. What I will say and is my point, is that this plan of Tropical Americas and the inclusion of these IPs make a little more sense to me than an entire Moana land and Zootopia. They have started with the land and then figured out where they could put in the forced IP by upper management.

My comment was based on that I don't believe we need to shoehorn in Dinosaurs with Indy just to hold onto the notion of the past and the animatronics. If it was not Dinoland today would we want that? What story beside a Time Machine would bring Indy face to face with Dinosaurs? Seems lazy. Now fossils, maybe. No Need to get rid of FOTLK or the Yeti or Pandora as Imagineers have done the best with what they can.

Who says that there won't be a focus on animals, conservation, with exhibits and paths and others on here have heard talks are beginning with experts and zoologists (Maybe just a rumor). Let's hope for the best the land can be and it seems like that is the first part. Then IP instead of the other way around.

Trackless rides have had some hits and misses. Ratatouille compared to others is mediocre, your right. It was a lot cooler when it opened in Paris almost ten years ago. Mickey's Railway is ok but should have been a new build and never replace GMR. I know a lot of people that love BATB in Tokyo and it has received glowing reviews. Have you ridden it? I will hold my opinion till I do 11 months from now. Still can't say a busbar is better.

You're right as it is not ok that they remove and take away/change things that are beloved to a lot of people. They need to build new and stop ripping out. I was really ed and saddened about Splash. Dinoland not so much, but for you and some others I can see that it's a big deal. At the end of the day, will I ride Tiana's Salt Dome Food CoOp Adventure. Yes. Will I like it. No. Will I get off and say they should have never did what they did. Yep. But all you can do is, eventually, move on at some point. Or not. Cool either way.

Even though this is all still “Blue Sky” the fact this was moved from the Big Thunder plan to Animal Kingdom at least hints at the fact that this is closer to a green light than the MK plans and they wanted to jump on Encanto sooner. Then they tossed in Indy as an easy-ish retheme of Dinosaur and are using South America as a way to make it seem consistent with the rest of the park on a surface level but in reality the connection is as deep as a puddle.
