Marvel appears to be expanding its video game adaptations pretty significantly through its deal with Square Enix, Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal. Following the announcement last week that the publishers are teaming up for a new Avengers game, a report came in today from Eurogamer that Eidos Montreal is also working on a Guardians of the Galaxy game.
The report says that Eidos Montreal is “in the early stages of production” on the game and will be leading the project, which will be the second game in Marvel’s agreement with the three companies. There’s no word on the specifics around the game or whether there will be any tie to the Avengers game, and since we won’t hear much about the Avengers game until next year it’s safe to say we’ll be waiting even longer to find out anything about this one.
This would be the second Guardians of the Galaxy game on the way if the report is true, as Telltale is working on an episodic game based on the popular Marvel characters.
