Easter Sunday

I have a question about being at Disney on Easter Sunday. Is this a day when the park is usually more or less crowded. ( Magic Kingdom or Epcot ) Does the Magic Kingdom do anything special for Easter ? Is it better to have a resort day and stay at the hotel? ( We are staying at the Contemporary Resort )

Thanks for the help .....again

We've been there for Easter a couple of times. Not a whole lot goes on very special. The parks are packed - but not really any more so than any day that week. Easter week will be packed every day. We did find that early morning on Easter was pretty good touring before the masses descend on the park. The Easter Bunny does a meet and greet just inside Magic Kingdom on the left. I seem to remember a couple of restaurants doing special meals, but not sure about that as we didn't actually eat at any of them.

We go every Easter and I love it. The resorts may do something special for the Holiday. At the Polynesian last year, We met Chip & Dale and Thumper (Who was awesome). There was a dance party thing going on and a Candy grab. This was all over by that sunset point. The field was covered in huge piles of candy and the wrappers sparkled in the sun. I know it sounds silly saying how beautiful the candy wrappers are but being outside on Easter in the warm sun and seeing all the sparkly glitter was just amazing.

Magic Kingdom Easter morning is cool too. Something about being on Main Street Early in the morning when it isn't so packed. Hearing the Easter music, the trolly show, seeing Mr and Mrs Easter Bunny. They also have these girls come out (I can never remember what these girls are called) dressed in beautiful southern belle dresses of all pastel Spring colors. They meet all around the Main Street hub.

Now, last year, since they had Limited Time Magic, they did an Easter Parade Pre Show before the 3pm parade. I loved this because the last time I saw the Disney Easter Parade was during my Senior trip in 2000. I wish they did this every year. It added so much to the day.

That is about all I know. I don't know if Epcot does anything except the Flower festival (oh, and the Flower Power concerts in the evening).

Just make sure you check your scheduling/resort packet. They will tell you what events are going on during that day. I'll go upload some pictures to tempt you :)

I thought a video would be better than posting a billion photos. So I made this and posted it to Youtube (My first Youtube video) :)

Anyway, This was Easter last year in the Magic Kingdom. Enjoy

Thank you everyone so much for the useful information and we love your video. We will plan to be at the Magic Kingdom early on Easter to miss some of the crowds. We planned on eating dinner at 1900 Park Ave and starting the day early with Chef Mickey.

Thanks again

It was crowded last Easter, but not like Christmas! They did a little pre-parade before the regular one, as already noted. :)
