Early Decorations

I typically go in November, and the last two times I noticed the decorations come out super early. In 2014, they were put out the 15th. Last yr and this yr. it's almost as soon as Halloween ends. It bugs me because I'd like to see the parks without holiday decorations, but from the last week of August to January it's themed to something. You know what I mean?

It would just be nice to have some breathing room between holidays. Maybe a week or two. But with the Christmas party starting so early too, they kinda have to do it....lame

Halloween becomes the new black friday as thanxgiving is annexed into the Christmas season. I appreciate the magic kingdom waiting til halloween was over before shifting to Christmas mode. Disney studios as well as Sea World and Busch Gardens Tampa already were full of xmas this week.

The decorations gradually happen. MK and DHS are decorated by November 8, Epcot doesn’t get decorated till the last week of November, same with a lot of resorts, etc. The majority of parks and resorts don’t have decorations 9 months of the year, I don’t mind the parks being festive and decked out a little bit longer.

Santa arrived at my local mall November 1st, my satellite radio has three stations playing Christmas music and the Hallmark channel has been showing Christmas movies since October 26th. On another note, my DW has her Christmas shopping all done. I on the other hand have no idea what to get or where to begin. That said people want to see the decorations so they put them up right after Halloween.

So many people want to see the decorated parks but cant book trips during the holiday weeks. They also want to visit and try avoiding the massive building holiday crowds. Disneys giving their guests what they want knowing this will draw more people in. And since they are successful in promoting, selling more dates for the MVMCP event, its working for them. Personally, I enjoy the holiday decorations that cress up the parks and resorts and welcome a more feastive atmosphere.... even if its a bit early.

Oh, absolutely. But it's everywhere now, not just Disney. Gotta make that holiday money! In my neighborhood, there was a Christmas Tree. A CHRISTMAS TREE up two days before Halloween.

We're living in The Nightmare Before Christmas. Tim Burton must be proud.
I delivered to a Hobby Lobby yesterday and told the lady at the front desk that they are giving me nightmares as a UPS man by reminding me the Christmas season is just around the corner. She laughed and said they literally put out their Christmas decorations in JULY! JULY!!! I delivered to a Cracker Barrel the other day and they are all decked out for Christmas too. But the real cake taker was probably when I was delivering in a neighborhood yesterday and a guy was wearing a hat with Reindeer antlers hanging up his Christmas lights and already had them on before dark! I said "It's too soon! You're killing me!" He laughed and sarcastically said "Oh. Are you guys about to get busy or something???" LOL! I will tell you something funny though. Obviously with my job it's about impossible for us to be there during the Christmas season but one night a few years ago I was laying in the bed looking at the castle from our room at BLT and all of a sudden the castle lit up for Christmas but it was in September. I jumped up and told my wife "Look!!!" and so we did get to see the castle lit for Christmas because they were testing it. A bonus was we got to do it on September points and not December points because December DVC points don't go nearly as far and especially when they're Magic Kingdom View points. Just my way of "stickin' it to the man" I guess. LOL!

When I was a kid TBS used to do this thing called "Christmas in July" where they would show Christmas movies in July. Does anyone else remember this? It was in the early 90's when I was probably 8 or 9 years old or so.

We've taken advantage of Halloween parties in Sept for several years, as well as Christmas parties in Nov, so cannot complain about decorations being up too early. However, going to the Halloween party in Aug this year felt odd, in part because of the oppressive heat (not that it was a whole lot cooler in Sept!)

That used to be the way, but, they've been creeping up the start of "the holidays" everywhere in the past few years. This year...

MK gets immediately decorated for "the holidays" the same night that the Halloween decorations come down which is Oct 31 or Nov 1 depending on the year. The replantings take place the next night. Then Nov 8 begins MVMCP.

For DAK, and DSH, and DS: Nov 8 is the start of their holiday: The bird show gets a Diwali overlay, Sunset Blvd Season Greetings start (Jingle Bam starts earlier on Nov 6 and the tinsel stars went up last week), the Christmas Tree Trail is open on the 8th.

Epcot's holiday season officially start Nov 18 this year (though the first Candlelight concert starts Nov 22... earlier than last year).

The resorts gets decorated throughout November as early as possible, it just takes some places longer than others. All decorations should be done before Thanksgiving.

You literally just said the same thing I said...

You said the MK is decorated by Nov 8 when it is instantly transformed by Nov 2.

You said Epcot isn't decorated until the last week of November, when this year, it will be decorated by the 18th. You said the same of the resorts, when this year, they will be finished decorating much earlier than the last week of November.

We agreed on DHS by Nov 8, tho. So, we got that. And Breakfast at Tiffany's. ;)
