In the summer of 1985, the announcement was made of Disney's intentions to build the park that became what is now known as the Disney Hollywood Studios park. You might be surprised to learn that its name at the time of the announcement was not the "Disney MGM Studios Park." Instead, they announced it as "Disney-MGM Studio Tour," and gave us this black and white concept art:

Here is a quote from the news story as published in the Walt Disney World Eyes & Ears edition of July 17, 1985:

"The Disney-MGM Studio Tour will combine actual motion picture and television production facilities with ride and a variety of live and filmed entertainment. Guests will view all aspects of film production, including action in sound stages, animation studios, special effects and back lot work."

Interesting to look at the park today and see how it has evolved.

This was a great edition of Eyes & Ears . . . it also included the news of Tinker Bell's flights from Cinderella's Castle, which began on July 3, 1985. :D

That is a great find! Thanks a lot for that.

I like that concept much better than what the park is nowadays, even if I still love DHS.
