Are you thinking about the one at Chesapeake House? I stopped there for DD coffee on the way back up to LI. It didn't look like there was a full blown menu like the one at Downtown Disney. The one at the rest stop is a downsized version.
Yes, thats exactly the one I was thinking of. Being as I haven't been there yet, can you tell me whats on the menu?

I voted for "I Love It" because I do! Even when I am in Las Vegas I go out of my way to the one at the Planet Hollywood to get a sandwich.

I am fortunate to have both the one at Downtown Disney (about an hour drive away) for when we're out there AND one right here in Tampa (about 15 minute drive away.) :D

I’ve only eaten there once. I had the turkey sandwich, ehh it was ok, nothing to rave about. Guess I’ll have to give it another shot and try something else. This is my thinking…here in NYC the restaurants may not be 60mi away but most times we wait 40+mins for a table (sometimes an hour or more in the city!) then wait to get service, etc...I might as well drive 60mi get what I want and go home. No fuss and no crowds. If it’s something you really crave and you have the time, go for it!

I voted I love it!

DB and I make a point to go there at least once (if not twice). We love the sandwiches and the quick service. We also enjoy eating outside and watching whatever is going on in DTD. Plus it's conviently located right next to Disney's Days of Christmas store. We somehow always make it to DTD when we are in Orlando....I wonder how that happens. ;)

Hey Gang, here is a poll and a question. I look forward to eating here and any time I get to Vegas. I just found out there is an EoS about 30 miles from me. Would I be nuts to make the 60 mile round trip once every four months or so? Its one of those things that reminds me of Disney. It would be like getting a taste without being there. Your thoughts.....go!

Geez, I drive 60 miles back and forth to work every day, so that amount of driving to actually eat at Earl of Sandwich might be a weekly event....:D

The Earl is king and located in downtown ( this thread ought to be in restaurants ) Never had anything but awesomeness from this place.Even got some on my last day for the airport at Sanford before flying home.;)

My wife and I regularly drive 25+ miles (one side of Jacksonville to another) just to eat a a couple of different places - California Pizza Kitchen, Cheesecake Factory, J Alexander...oh, and can't forget cupcakes at Sweet by Holly! (two locations....Jacksonville and Orlando!). I think 30 miles for the Earl wouldn't be bad at all...

I honestly don't remember, (was there late Oct.) just looked like they didn't have the full lineup of sandwiches up on the overhead board. Could be wrong...

I really Ike EoS, but I wouldn't drive 30 miles just to go there. I don't even go there every time I go to DTD.

It's very good and I do recommend it to people, but a 30 mile trip is going to take me 45-60 minutes each way. I'm not doing two hours of driving just to get a sandwich, even if it is good.

But if it really knocks your socks off, go for it. :)

They just opened an Earl in Boston Common and you better believe that I will make that my stop every time I'm in Boston. It's too hard to go there just any old time though since Boston is about an hour and a half from me and I'd need to drive to the subway station, take the subway into the city, get lunch and then get back on the subway to the car, then drive home. If I could just drive there without transferring to the subway I probably would. I drove to Sonic for lunch one day and that one is actually 88 miles from my house... So I am guilty for driving long distances for food I love!!! :D

I find EoS to be ok. Really just not an ooh, ahh type of wonderful dining experience. i don't know if I put it on too high of a pedestal due to all the rave reviews of others or if it generally isn't that much greater than sandwiches back home. It isn't on the must do dining list for us. I find it average and the wife enjoyed it even less.

We need time for things to happen.
Yeah dude..I'd make that trip.
Love me some EoS - we missed it the trip before last for some reason but made up for it this time out - even took a morsel or two on the plane for the trip home.

Man, people really love Earl of Sandwich! In all my trips I have never been... someone want to summarize the hype/highlights?

A nice variety of sandwiches, on really good bread that they somehow bake as they're toasting the sandwich. Quality meats, cheeses and sauces, but the bread itself is unique, adds to the overall taste.

Has the added benefit of being one of the few remaining not ridicuously overpriced restaurants on WDW property. Helps add to its following among Cast Members/locals.

I've noticed the rest stop ones carry fewer than half the sandwiches offered at the DTD location (although they also had a bar-b-que sandwich I've never seen at Disney). As I recall the Newark Airport Earl had a more limited selection, too, but it's been almost a year.

ehh. I chose "no thanks" because they don't have gluten free bread. So we can't go, even if I wanted to. I just don't get that. GF people are told they can have a fruit cup, which kind of sucks, or some salads.
