It remains very up in the air. No confirmed schedule yet for TT closing, nor confirmation on whether the current Dumbo will be reused. There have been plans to build two new ride systems to prevent the downtime for the move.

And then the Tiki Room will be demolished, and the current dumbo structure will be used to build twin flying carpets. Taaadaaa!

(I'm kidding)

I would not be sad to see Tropical Serenade taken down... It is such a mockery of the original.

Tropical Serenande would be a blessing compared to the under new management show we have in there now.

Also I have a feeling that the extra dumbo spinner may be one of the elements cut from the expansion project. It was probably not seen that needed regardless of long queues in busy times for the slow capacity of Dumbo.

Then again, the things are clean running permamant version of a carnival classic with some pretty asthetics. I doubt they take that long to construct. I would expect and hope to see some nice queue work being done first.

Double Dumbos are coming. Nothing with that plan has changed

Source? Not that I don't doubt it but that post seemed very sure.

Also, I really wish they would of gone with an extended version of one spinner with more arms and cars for capacity increase. To me it would of been more appearsing to the eyes and atmosphere rather than two different spinners

Glad to see 2 Dumbo's are still in the works. Yes, there may be times when both are needed in operation, but there are LOTS of times it is needed.

I've only been on here a short while and can tell you that for the most part, posts from Juan, Lee, Raven, and a couple others are pretty much considered gold. They have sources and tend to be right more often than not...

The double spinners and nextGen queue for Dumbo is one of the big things they are doing for this expansion. Reducing the wait time for this ride I think is high priority.

There was a permit filed a few weeks ago about Dumbo construction with a new address that would situate it right next to Goofy's Barnstormer.

It's still happening.

Just a thought...but I expect that a large degree of Dumbo's appeal is its location. Were it not in the middle of all of the rides for tots, I suspect that it would not be so packed. Basically I wonder whether it will need two spinners off at the edge of the forest. Not that I mind a lack of a wait, but would prefer the money spent elsewhere spiffing things up.

The fact that it's so out in the middle of things certainly draws attention to it. I think it's going to be hard to gauge the effect on the move though as doubling the capacity will certainly change the lines.

I've often wondered this same thing. I agree that the current location makes it popular. A kid sees Dumbo and wants to ride.

However, I also think Dumbo is one of those iconic Disney attractions that the average guest feels they "must do", and it will remain popular no matter where it is placed (so long as it is not too hidden. Although Country Bear Jamboree was wildly popular at WDW in the 70's and 80's, the decision to hide it in the far back corner of Disneyland drew much less crowds).

Does anyone know how the demand for the Rocket Jets/AstroOrbiter/whatever-it-is-called changed at Disneyland when it was moved from the top of the Peoplemover track to the hub at the entrance of Tomorrowland? On one hand, the ride is now MORE visible because it is in the hub. On the other hand, it is LESS noticeable because it is no longer towering over Tomorrowland. (One could argue it is also less interesting of a ride--and less worthy of a wait-- now that it is ground level).
