Downtown Disney traffic is insane tonight

First time poster, long time lurker here!

Anyway, traffic there is insane and something needs to be done. I had to drive past Downtown Disney last Friday and it took me 20 minutes to get past it. It was around 3/3:30pm so it wasn't like I went during a crowded time...

Friday and Saturday nights are always horrible. Best to avoid the area on those days. If you must go to DTD on a Friday or Saturday then use the 3rd exit on Epcot Center Drive onto Disney Vacation Club Way and park at Team Disney or Hess. Ya it is a bit of a walk but you'll save tons of time over waiting for that garage. Plus you'll get out of the area quicker when you want to leave because on a busy night it can take over an hour just to get out of the garage with the current screwy traffic patterns.

By coincidence, been to DTD twice in the past two days. The garage has only made things worse (took away perfectly serviceable lots for a garage with a winding entrance and exit, not enough signage, inaccurate lights, etc.)--even at noon on Friday, with DTD far from busy, parking was a chore. When I left Saturday around 6 pm, Buena Vista backed up for miles, sure it must have stretched to the highway.

No one with half a brain will try coming to DTD on a weekend afternoon/evening more than once. Even once construction is done, this reputation is going to hurt them with locals for years.

Yeah that's what I was hoping to do. Couldn't get near it.
Speaking of garage, since we ended up at Pointe Orlando, they seem to handle their garage real well. Hundreds left after the movie, we were on the top floor, but got out on the road in 15.

When isn't traffic at DTD not insane? And Friday/Saturdays nights would be the worst as locals add to the mix of visitors.

I've seen it backed up onto I4 before. I drove past that exit and went to another location as I said no way that exit and when I back tracked it was definitely all headed to DTD. I used to enjoy going there and walking around.

I was actually going to see Jurassic World at DTD last Thursday at midnight, but the friend I was going to go with was working late so we cancelled and rescheduled for Tuesday. Looks like that worked out for the best from what I'm reading...

Wait. I thought DTD was a ghost town since PI went extict. So confused.

Good thing that 2nd garage is happening. Just growing pains is all.
