Don't Forget about Recreation!

What are some of everyone's favorite non-park recreational activities to do?

This is for the people that might be taking a morning/evening or whole day off from the parks!

My first suggestion is boat and bike rental of select resorts! (I'm biased for the Wilderness Lodge). Resort hopping and Disney Springs are also great options for a non-park experience!

I enjoy resort hopping more than the parks sometimes! Not particularly-bookable recreation, but I love wandering the halls, looking at lobby exhibits and I especially love looking in the shops at the resort-specific merchandise cause you don’t see it anywhere else in the parks!

Oh and eating. Dinner and watching fireworks from a different vantage point.

We Have young kids so we always stay in a resort with a great pool that has a water slide. We plan at least one pool day plus other pool breaks. They have parties at the pool in the afternoon where cast members host games and play music. There are also arts and crafts, for an extra fee. The movies under the stars are a big hit too. Some resorts have fan based sites with schedules of activities for the month so you can plan your favorite day. My kids like our resort days more than our park days! Oh and roasting marshmallows!, we never miss it or my kids would be so upset. Some of their best memories are roasting marshmallows in different resorts.

DH usually wants a golf day. Fine by me- I get to sleep in and then relax by the pool. Or we go to a water park. I can spend hours just floating along the lazy river. At night we may do Hoop Dee Doo Revue. Or return to the resort after a nice signature dinner for the movie on the lawn.

Weve enjoyed the horse drawn carriage ride at PORS, characters in flight balloon ride at DS, mini golfing at both courses, evening music & entertainment at both POFQ & PORS, movie nights at the resort, renting speed boats at Contemp, and sometimes its just relaxing taking a seat on the ferries or monorails and ride them around.

Partial to mini-golf, myself. Either the hard course at Fantasia or both courses at WinterSummerland. I can also handle a half day of wandering around Disney Springs before it turns into too much like shopping! :)

Eating and drinking around the World while also touring the resorts
Playing mini golf is always a nice activity during a lazy late afternoon/early evening also wandering around the Boardwalk is a great diversion
Shopping around Disney Springs, the outlet mall on Vineland and the huge Target on Irlo Bronson and Rolling Oaks Blvd.

Our off-park time is usually at the pool. In the past, we used to hop the monorail resorts and take a boat to WL- and still do at Christmas or in the Fall to look at decorations. About every 3rd trip or so we'll go to DS. If there's free time, and it's not in the winter, we'd rather be at the pool. Guess we aren't very exciting people. 🤔😁
