Cheesy isn't neccesarily bad

Personaly i think cheesy was what they were after. That might just be me though, so yes i do think it is cheesy. My one problem with it is the amount of concrete in that area. If memory serves me right there aren't many trees.

Yes... cheesy is what they wanted. But that's not a good thing that they themed cheesy good.

They could have done so much better. Started with a better concept then "Road-side fair" and made better theming.

But no, they stuck with cheesy.

Yea, I think its a little cheesy, but it serves the area well. I just wish they could've disguised Primevil (Sp??) Whirl and the Dumbo/Carpets/Rockets copy as other things to fit in better with the "Roadside America" theme. Or maybe that isn't such a good idea...

Looking better

With the construction walls down, the carnival music playing on "Tricera-tops Spin" and coaster cars --- well, whirling --- on "Primeval Whirl", the area is looking more cohesive. It is not to be confused with the level of themeing at Harumbe, but it's the place to head when you (and/or the younger folks) just want to ride a ride.

I agree, i think that cheesy is what they were looking for, a route 66 type of feel

Yep, an Imagineer said that it was MADE to be cheesy in a Disney Magazine issue a year or two back...

The thing is...it's TOO cheesy...I am not to pleased about it...

BTW...Don't you think the whole corporation is cheesy? After all, a Mouse is running it...

Sorry...I'll end with my cheesy jokes...

And now...for some cheese :D

The whole area is way too cheesy for my taste. It's very unlike anything else I've experienced at Disney, and not in a good way. If they wanted the land to be this way, then they shouldn't have themed it after Dinosaurs since they could have made a more authentic "land" out of that. With this roadside thing getting bigger and bigger, the other stuff in Dinoland (like the Dinosaur ride) don't fit in as well with the overall concept. Just my opinion. Also I was really looking foward to the new ride---Primevil Whirl---but it was a major let down for me. It seemed more for kids, kind of like Goofy's Barnstormer in Toontown at MK. It was very anti-climactic.

A couple things to look for...

...amid the cheesiness, note the use of thematic elements. For example the comets on Tricera-tops Spin, carried over to the Primeval Whirl signage, then on the ride itself. Also, the use of certain colors... mostly purple and orange, to carry the mood through consistently. License plates... used in a flower bed in front of Tricera-tops, then on the gates to Tricera-tops, then on the Primeval Whirl vehicles. And the daffy dinos greeting you at the entrance, cavorting on the signage, and looming over the back of the games area.

Again, it's not Harumbe, but clearly the Imagineers didn't just take the day off with this one.

I think that the imagineers did a great job with the cheesiness of Dino-Rama. Going back to the backround story of Dinoland, Chester and Hester were out to take advantage of the rather stuffy Dino Institute located next door, hoping to draw tourists away from the Institute. If this were the real world, it would be like a neighborhood feud....you know, one neighbor who keeps his lawn perfectly cut, while the next door neighbor keeping goats on his lawn. Chester and Hester are obviously out to annoy the Dino Institute and have obviously succeeded. The fact that this is a topic of so much debate proves the story must have worked. If I were an imagineer that worked on this project, I'd be ecstatic about the postive AND negative response to Dino-Rama. It shows that the story is really working!

I think the "cheese" factor was what they were after. All the parks have a little "cheese" in them. Remember, their boss is Mr. Mickey Mouse and he LOVES cheese! And so do I.

I like the theming of the area, i hope they expand it to include more rides and more games. The only thing i really didn't like was how different Chester and Hesters was from the Dino Institute and from the boneyard. Its not like one area melts into another. They are 3 very seperate areas with very seperate themes.
