I was just wondering because I wanted to sell some stuff on there, but am not really sure how to do it yet. When you sell something, how do you know how much to charge for shipping? Has anyone had any success with this stuff?

I sell all the time. 235 Positive feedback to my name. :D

The best thing to do til you get the feel for it, is to search for other items like yours to:

a. See if it is selling for at least what you hope to get

b. See how much others are starting their bids and charging for shipping

c. Note what words they are using to list their item (if you are careful you can reach a bigger crowd of bidders just by the words you use to list your auction)

You may get a nice surprise on what is hot or not. I found out the other day an old DVD I bought was going for 4x what I originally paid for it cause it is Out of Print now. And you will find that for the right price people will buy almost anything. Good Luck and make it fun. :)

In my opinion, some people inflate their shipping costs to increase their profits. Remember to include the cost of your postage (weigh it beforehand so that you know the cost) and figure in a little more for packaging. Also include the cost of the shipping in the sale; some items do not list a shipping amount and I won't touch that with a 10 foot pole.

We use Ebay quite a bit...unfortunately we buy more than sell...LOL!
I am about to post some stuff on, as soon as we get the pics. We have never inflated the shipping...its enough on its own!
Shipping also varies depending on how you ship, and from what shipping place. I have sold most of my snowglobes this way...
Good Luck!

Thanks for your reply's, but how do you know how much to charge for shipping? I know that you have to weigh the item but that just tells me how much it weighs not how much to charge. Do I have to call the post office every time I want to know? I just don't want to over/under charge anyone. Uhgghhh....this is confusing.:brick:

Like I said, look at what others are asking. Also if you go to the UPS page or the USPS page you can get an estimate on shipping charges. Again, once you have done this a few times you will sorta know how much to charge. To begin, you can say "Actual shipping cost will be determined after auction ends".

What are you planning to sell? Media can go super cheap if you choose to send it Media mail.

Hey Shanen...
We just wait till the auction ends, so we can find out where it is going first. We go to the Pac mail place here in town, and they used to give us the Ebay discount too....I would check. It can also sve you money if you pack it yourself, and get boxes on your own. I just posted some jewelry there, and it wont be much to send, because its small, and can fit into a padded envelope...whereas the snowglobes I am going to post will be much more:)
Its not so hard...Do yu have our number??? Cal can help you thru it if you need to...
