Aloha,

According to Honolulu's KSSK radio this AM, officials from DLR and Universal Studios Hollywood met with Gov. Newsom and his staff yesterday (Wednesday, 26 August) to discuss re-opening plans. No date of the planned openings was provided.

Aloha! And mahalo for your reports on how this is getting media coverage in our 50th state.

This is part of a political campaign that Disney and Universal have joined together for. California's political leaders in Sacramento have been in complete radio silence all summer long. They haven't said a word about when, or if, California's theme parks will ever be allowed to reopen. The leaders of Disney and Universal, who played nice and tried to be PC and deferential to Sacramento for the past several months, have had enough. And now they are speaking out and just made this public media statement that declares their theme parks are more than ready to reopen yet are still awaiting "guidance" from their Sacramento masters partners in when they might be allowed to resume their business.

The executives at Disney and Universal are finally getting fed up with all the waiting, thus this most recent media announcement from the joint companies.

We continue to await a response from our elected officials in Sacramento...

Legoland California has now joined the party.

"Disney, Universal, SeaWorld and Legoland are raising a growing clamor to reopen Southern California theme parks as pressure builds on state officials to allow the major tourist destinations to swing open their gates after extended coronavirus closures."

Iger hates the new CDC recommendation. Testing isn’t necessary for asymptomatic patients who aren’t in sustained contact with an infected person. What this new guideline means is there’s less risk of getting this disease and those that get it is less likely to die. I wonder if Disney really wants the parks to reopen.

This new guideline seemed to be politically based and many healthcare professionals pushed back against this advice.

Saw on another site that they're turning the lights on in the parks at night now - at the entrance gates and beyond. Testing 1-2-3...

(They may have been doing this for a while but it was the first time I'd seen it reported.)
