Disney's Pop Century Resort Room #0203 refurbished roll-in shower room review with photos.

I stayed at Disney's Pop Century Resort on the dates of June 22, 2018, Friday and departed on July 5, 2018, Thursday.

This room has a roll-in shower, one lower queen bed, and one lower queen murphy bed with the table. Both queen beds are much lower than the standard room for easy access and transfer for wheelchair users. This is all new to me at my stage of life.

When I used to use the standard rooms, the beds were too high and my feet never touched the ground. The staff offered me a stool with an attached hand height handle to help me get in and out of the bed. But this has gotten too difficult for me without falling at the age of 68 years old. They also offered a bathtub chair which was a help, but the bathtub is too small to turn the chair around. That is why I am going to use these new rooms from now own. I think that this works better for me from my personal experience. But, of course, everyone has their own unique experiences and likes and dislikes and abilities. These are my likes.

This is the view to the right of the room. Notice the rooms #0101 & #0102 have recessed door entrances, whereas my room is flush with the windows as shown in the next photo.

This is the view of my door for room #0203 and the next room #0204. Notice these doors are not recessed like the standard rooms in order to give more interior space. I don't know what type of room #0204 is because it was always occupied. The resort was full every day of my visit so I was unable to see the other rooms. I am told the other accessible rooms have a lower bathtub and lower beds, but no roll-in shower.

This is the photo inside my room #0203. Notice the door is flush not recessed like the recessed "standard" rooms. I am traveling by myself. I put one chair next to the front door to put things on to help me after I open the door to leave the room. It was easier to hold the door open and pick up something from the chair. Next to that is my large suitcase on the stand and a hamper for laundry.

A little further left in the room is my wheelchair. They moved the coat rack to this space. It has five little knobs to hang coats, etc.. I use it to hang my wheelchair charger, rain poncho, etc.. You can see my wheelchair next to it with an electrical outlet below. In the standard room, the coat rack is on the wall just outside the bathroom. They also moved the fridge and cabinet to the other side of the TV/dresser. This created more open space near the door entrance.

This is the TV and dresser. It appears to be in the same place as the standard room across from the queen bed. You may notice the fridge and cabinet is on the left and not the right side as in the standard room to allow more free space.

And finally the rest of the wall. You see the TV and dresser on the right, followed by the fridge and cabinet on the left and the closet further left. In the standard room, I believe the closet is in the bathroom. The bathroom door is a little wider allowing easier access for a wheelchair. I really notice the difference from the standard room. It was even difficult to turn around in the standard room bathroom with a wheelchair. The closet blocks the wall where the coat hanger would have gone in a standard room.

Now on the other wall, it looks the same as a standard room, but with a little more space, and the queen bed is lower than the standard room. This is not a King bed. There are three bedside tables fixed to the wall, and each has an electrical outlet with spaces for two plugs and two USB ports. I plugged my C.P.A.P. machine and phone recharger at the center bedside table. The resort phone is also located here. I should have taken a photo of the bed legs showing how much lower they were. Maybe you can tell from the height of the mattress and the bedside tables.

And this is the photo of the Murphy bed table, Murphy queen bed was left up. There seemed to be more space between the bed and the table to me as compared to the standard room. But it may just be my imagination. The table was missing that large metal piece on the floor to allow the queen bed to fold out lower to the floor. Sometimes I used my chair and sometimes I used my wheelchair when I was at the table. Sometimes, I would turn my chair sideways to the TV and use an upside-down trash can to raise my right leg up when I could. I think next time I might take my tripod seat for this.

And this is the photo of the table, Murphy queen bed. There seemed to be more space between the bed and the table to me as compared to the standard room. Both beds were lower in height and the design looked a little different, but the table was the same height and allowed the wheelchair to roll under it. On the floor, below the table, it was missing that large metal piece to allow the queen bed to fold out lower.

Disney's Pop Century Resort Room #0203 refurbished roll-in shower room review with photos.

I stayed at Disney's Pop Century Resort on the dates of June 22, 2018, Friday and departed on July 5, 2018, Thursday.

This room has a roll-in shower, one lower queen bed, one lower, queen murphy bed with the table. Both queen beds are much lower than the standard room for easy access and transfer for wheelchair users.

The front window, luggage, hamper, bedside table, and table for the Murphy. I had enough space without the hamper to roll my wheelchair on the window side of the table to use my laptop and watch TV. I may bring my folding beach chair with the footrest to use as a lazy boy type chair to keep my right leg raised.

There are five of these outlets showing two plug inputs and two USB inputs in the room. One on each of the three bedside tables and two on each end of the TV/Dresser.

Here is a closer photo of the fridge and cabinet with the coffee maker. I like the see-through fridge. Above is another electrical outlet and light switch for the counter and small coffee maker which I did not use. Two carrot cake cookies anyone? In the standard room this was located on the right side of the TV/dresser. And next to that is the closet that would have been inside the bathroom of a standard room. This space would have also been used for a connecting door. But this room did not have a connecting room.

The bathroom is so much larger than the standard room with a bathtub. The toilet has a handrail beside and behind the toilet with enough space on the left to back the wheelchair up in order to transfer to the toilet seat.

You can see the part of the extra space on the right to back up the wheelchair between the sink and the toilet. The sink counter allows a wheelchair to slide under. To the left of the sink is the wall; then to the left of that, you will see the shower curtain to the roll-in shower.

Photo of the roll-in shower entrance. The sink on the right and towel hanger on the left. It may be hard to see, but on the floor is a soft, white, hollow rubber tube that is easier to roll over, or to step on. The regular bathtub chair was brought with me from the standard room, but I didn't use it because of the newer roll-in shower seat. The older room fold down shower seat was wooden and was too high for me. I ended up not using this bathtub chair because I liked using the mesh seat. I wasn't sure at first. I weigh 340 lbs., but I soon felt comfortable with the mesh chair. It appears if a wheelchair user has to transfer they could only roll straight in and use a board to transfer. There didn't seem to be to much room to turn around in the shower for those that needed to do that.

Now we are in the roll-in shower and you can see the newer shower seat on the right which has a fine mesh nylon seat similar to a patio chair and is held onto the wall with heavy metal attachment and two front leg supports. I do not transfer to the seat like many wheelchair users. The older seats were wooden and larger and may be preferred. But, I use the two handrails sit down and to get up. I was worried at first as the nylon mesh seat had some give in it, but I weigh 340 lbs. and I felt comfortable and safe using it. But this is just my personal experience and, of course, everyone may have a different experience especially with what they are used to using when transferring from a wheelchair. The shampoo, body wash, and conditioner pumps are closer to the seat. And the shower has a handheld shower which can be fixed to an attachment to raised or lowered. With soapy hands, the handheld shower was a little slippery to hold, but I either used a washcloth or rinsed my hands of slippery soap suds. This will work for me and is so much easier than a standard room bathtub. But this is all very new to me using a roll-in shower.

And the shower has a handheld shower which can be fixed to an attachment to raise or lower. I lowered it from a standing position to a sitting position so that I can reach it better. The handheld shower can be positioned as a regular shower height or lower for sitting and moved in any direction. The new refurbished roll-in shower was good for me.

They hung the ironing board across from the toilet. The standard room had the closet located here. There is so much more room for me with everything outside the bathroom. Everything was so much better in the newer refurbished room. I am new to this type of room. I can still ambulate. I am glad that I do not have to struggle to get in and out for the standard room high beds and small bathtubs with a chair. I'll be going back in October and December and I will try and take more photos of other accessible rooms and take measurements. Please just let me know what you would like to see or measure.

Every day when I left my room for the parks or to get coffee or just explore, I saw the following scenes.
