Disney's Pop Century Resort Opening Delayed

To ensure the kind of superior experience our guests have come to expect, the opening of the Walt Disney World® Pop Century Resort is being moved from December 2001 to March 2002. While construction remains on schedule, we believe our guests will be better served by waiting until we can open a larger complement of rooms and amenities. For example, the main pool will not be complete in December and its construction would create a visual impact that may disrupt the guest experience. We avoid this by opening in March.

New Character Dining Experience at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa 1900 Park Fare, located in the main building at the Grand Floridian, is pleased to announce that effective June 10 they will be featuring Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet for dinner. Priority seating can be arranged by calling (407) WDW-DINE.

Disney's Magnolia Golf Course Under Renovation
Disney's Magnolia golf course will be closed through late September as the course undergoes a state-of-the-art 20-week irrigation project. The new irrigation system will allow Disney to dramatically improve 18-hole maintenance of the course.

Obviously the construction isn't on time because the only other reason for the delayed opening would be the stupidity of Disney if they knew that construction and other things of the sort would seriously impact guests and still decided to start taking reservations. I think that unfortunately the stupidity theory is probably the correct theory.

I think Disney has been fortunate in the past and has been able to meet construction deadlines without problems. Almost all of the recently constucted hotels have booked reservations dependent upon designated opening dates without major problems. When we stayed at AKL, some wings weren't open, but it didn't affect our visit. The facilities were all open, although not all of the animals were there. It's unfortunate that things aren't going as well on this project.
