Olivia's Cafe at Old Key West is dropping brunch and adding a standalone lunch service. The switch happens October 6, 2026, splitting the current 7:30 am–2:00 pm brunch block into separate breakfast and lunch seatings — October 5 is your last chance to catch the existing brunch menu.

Two big fails in the last month. Olivia’s brunch and Ale and Compass breakfast and lunch enhancement. Watch the bookings drop to next to nothing at these restaurants, like they were before they added these “locals favorites” to their menus years ago. Before those two improvements were added to their menus, those restaurants were ghost towns. When you forget the past, you’re doomed to repeat it.

I would expect the Grand Floridian Cafe to follow suit and drop their brunch as well.

Disappointing, to say the least. And I agree - The ones in charge either are willfully ignorant of history or were not around for it. Either way, this is a mistake.

As long as the breakfast menu is good, I’m ok with this. Is the problem more or less for the people who are looking for a breakfast option in the 11am to 2pm window that are upset about the change?
In our case, we had members of our party that liked the chicken with breakfast and others who like the chicken for lunch. Also, you could mix items like getting the conch fritters early or adding oatmeal or another breakfast item like waffles or pancakes to a lunch. It’s just less options. I remember back when they did breakfast lunch and dinner at Olivia‘s and it was a ghost town. I mean, who knows where Old Key West Resort is anyway? When they introduced the brunch, it was actually difficult to get a reservation sometimes.

It's just confusing, I'm honestly not sure what they're trying to accomplish here. It doesn't really seem to save them any money, most likely just separating the menu into two separate entities. Maybe they'll add a couple extra lunch-type entrees (with a higher markup?)

“brunch” at the resorts were just the combination of their breakfast and lunch menus anyways. I don’t see any evil plot here. Haven’t we all been asking for more unique menus between dining periods? Remember when in park TSRs had different lunch and dinner menus?
This is how I feel as well. Until new menus drop I’ll hold my judgement. But maybe they will have a few crossover items on the breakfast and lunch menus. We shall see.

Maybe Tom can get them to reverse course like he did with the port orleans cornbread!

It doesn’t make much sense though - the brunch was really popular. If guests want more lunch items…. Add them, but don’t take away something you’ve been known for for decades.

I just read they removed the framed pictures of DVC families as well - more of the old/unique charm of the place gone.

They relegated them to photo albums, replacing with, you guessed it, standard nautical decor, anchors, fish, coastal signs, a ship’s wheel, etc.

Apparently, some of the photos were starting to fade (so what?) but they could have reached out to OKW members for new photos if this was the case.

I’m surprised this is just getting noticed. I was there in the end of April and they were already removed. Was told the photo album was coming soon-ish
