Disney's Lion King - Las Vegas

I will be going to Vegas in August and planning the shows I want to see. I have NEVER been to a Broadway style show before and am thinking on going to see the Lion King at the Mandalay Bay. The ticket is only $53. Has anyone ever been to the show (I know it just started) or to any showing of it worldwide? Is it worth it? Any help would be appreciated.

The $53 tickets are the 3rd tier in the price ranges, I don't know how good those seats would be, more likely they would be in the rear mezzanine. I live in Las Vegas, and waiting until they give a locals' special, but I also would love to see the show. If it is within your price range, I would opt for the 2nd or 3rd tier price tickets.

True. I will not mind sitting in the Mezzanine, I am on limited funds - and I am planning on only seeing 1 or 2 shows. I sat in the cheap seats at Miss USA in April and they turned out to be great. I am going to the Lion King alone so it does not matter.

I saw the The Lion King while on a trip to London..and I do have to say that is has been the BEST show I have ever seen on stage so far. The music and costumes were all just breathtaking. The children actors were amazing and it just brought a huge smile to my face! Im sure you will LOVE it no matter where you sit!!

Thanks. I am going to go see it. I would rather invest in a Disney show than the other shows in Vegas. I am not into the Adult themed shows and a lot of the other ones are corny.

I saw The Lion King on Broadway and, well, I'm in the minority. The costumes, sets and stagecraft were amazing. The additional songs added as filler, not so much. Yet I'll probably see it next time I'm in Vegas in December. I'll probably also see Cirque de Soleil's Love again, which is hands down the best show in the city.

I'm going to Vegas next week with my buddy. I'd love to see Lion King. But the odds of us being sober enough to find the theatre are hopeless.
If my wife was with me, that's another story. We do though, have tickets for Mary Poppins in LA for december.

I've seen Lion King in Toronto and New York and think it's jaw-dropping every time. It's like seeing a familiar movie brought to spectacular life.

I would also recommend any of these Cirque shows: Ka, O, Mystere and Love.

You can get excellent discounts on same day Mystere tickets - we got second tier for about 60% off - at Tix4Tonight behind the giant coke bottle on the strip.

Definitely a good choice. If you could get floor seats it would be better because there are floor performers that are simply phenomenal, but if mezzanine is what you can afford go for it! The show is amazing (being the sap that I am I cried during the circle of life opening) and there really isn't much of a "bad" seat for the show as far as the performances, although from higher up or at a very side angle you can seat the set workings, but you might not notice (I do/did because I have done theater and I guess you could say 'look' for problems).

If it's a once in a lifetime opportunity it's definitely a great show to go to! Have a great time!

DO NOT MISS IT!

I saw the stage show @ the Benedum in Pittsburgh several years ago, and was absolutley blown away. The costumes, the music, the performers - I was in awe. Paid $75.00 for tickets on the floor directly in front of the stage - worth every penny. Just picture FOLK @ AK, and multiply it by about 50.
