Saw that one coming. Once he was passed up for the CEO job his time was short.

Shame though -- he's a really smart guy and would've been a phenomenal leader for the company.

I see this as evidence that Disney's dealmaking days are over and that now's the time to focus on integrating everything they have, not as some sort of failure or Mayer trying to jump a (according to media "experts") sinking ship.

The deals are done. International expansion blueprint is now clear. Mayer was essentially expendable.

CNBC reports Mayer quit because of being excluded from the Microsoft and Oracle sale talks.

That means it's possible a deal could come soon, but that's not certain at the moment.

By the time WM adds HBO Max on Fire TV and Roku, D+ would be released in every country in the world and Star would be everywhere outside the US.

In fairness HBO isn't really a global brand like Disney is. While they do have international networks almost nobody watches them.

Ironically, Hotstar serves as the official provider for HBO originals in India.
