heres my random idea for nemo/autopia refurb. Put the entire mermaid lagoon from TDS in that spot and bury it, then build a new land on top of it. It all fits, you could even put the little mermaid darkride from CA in there as well so you can close the LM ride and redo it as Coco.
the yellow line is the entrance to the underwater land, complete with a tunnel that goes under the lagoon with clear glass tunnels like at aquariums, taking you under the sea as you go into the giant underground building.
the red line is the new train track layout. the monorail is gone from that area entirely now and the train wraps around matterhorn on a raised brickwork track that also goes behind the tritons kingdom and acts as a seperation/boundry between the mermaid area/small world area and the new fantasy land expansion. Im think BatB or Frozen. BatB would work great because steam trains fit in that era and you could tie it into the land really well. I dont have the upper level FL expansion layout done yet but the monorail maintenence building and area behind it would serve as show building area for main eticket attraction.

theres more nuance to be added to this render obv i made it with ms paint for gods sake, but you get the idea.

Uh, gang?....

I've been busy with a re-landscaping project that took on a life of its own and tripled in size about a week ago, so pardon me if this has already been discussed as I've not been on the forum much lately, but....

Sacramento still hasn't released the new Guidance for how to operate a theme park in California after April 1st. It's now March 25th, one week until theme parks in California can reopen per Sacramento. But our bureaucratic betters up in Sacramento still haven't released any of the new rules and regulations yet.

The state websites all still direct you to the old Guidance from October 20th, 2020. If you are a theme park operator in California all you have to go on is a few brief bullet points released several weeks ago with promises to release the full Guidance "later" before the April 1st reopening date.

We still don't know what the rules are, or how they work, or what it means for epic 15 to 30 minute long indoor E Tickets like Pirates or Haunted Mansion or Star Wars: Rise Before Dawn.

This is the only information we have to go on two weeks after it was released on a PDF file by Sacramento...

Orange Tier Effective April 1, 2021:
• Max 25%
• Indoor capacity max 25% with time restrictions
• Weekly worker testing program
• With other modifications

• In-state visitors only, check for current CDPH Travel Advisory in effect

And then the link on the state website leads to this old information from October 20th, 2020...

We just have to hope that the industry leaders are getting information that we are not.

Am I being too optimistic? I feel like I'm being too optimistic. 🤣

As an out-of-towner, I'm not really sure what to make of all this. My daughter really wants to go this summer, but how do I plan for this? Do I book a hotel room on some rando dates and HOPE I can get reservations for those days?

And, since capacity will be limited, should I be worried about booking a hotel? Usually everything is full about a year out, but maybe that isn't going to be an issue this year?

Yeah I would think trying to book the park reservation first, before booking the hotel shouldn't be a problem. I don't think we have any specifics on how Disney is going to handle the reservations for Disneyland, but I don't believe they have a set window for booking tickets to the parks (like 60/180 days out). If that's the case for Disneyland, just keep an eye open for the day that the tickets become available and get ready to join a virtual queue.

I would think by Summer we should be at or near 35% capacity in CA at the rate of vaccinations.

Based on how the WDW parks are functioning in FL at 35% I don’t believe accessing a park reservation should be too difficult during the week if you reserve multiple weeks out. I’d just hold your park reservation first then get your hotel thereafter since hotel capacity should be much easier to come by.

We’re I to ballpark, I’d also guess/suspect the out of state cap will likely be lifted soon-ish (once we hit yellow, perhaps post Independence Day at the latest).

I booked a hotel reservation just in case all the stars align and the park is opened for Oregonians, and we can get reservations for our five day tickets. Seems extremely unlikely but, oh well. The hotel reservation can be canceled up to 48 hours before for no charge, and the rate was good for a larger room.

When did you book for?

I don't think you are being too optimistic.

I have an acquaintance I've spoken about before. She owns a half dozen franchised nail salons in San Diego County. In 2020 neither she, nor any other business owner, nor the industry trade group that represents them in Sacramento could get any information from Sacramento about when their industry could reopen, what the new rules would be, or how the decisions were being made.

These business owners simply had to wait until they heard about it on the news, just like everyone else. It was maddening for them, and there was nothing they could do about it. No one in Sacramento returned calls or emails, except in form letters.

Perhaps there's some secret conference room in Sacramento where theme park executives and top bureaucrats have a chummy weekly meeting, and all the new rules and regulations were agreed to weeks ago and Sacramento just hasn't gotten around to updating their Industry Guidance website???

As of today, the Industry Guidance for theme parks is still all the stuff Sacramento released back on October 20th, 2020 that was so scary and depressing to consider. Especially for a park like Disneyland, and only slightly less so for DCA.

It's a shame your kids are older now. If they were still in pre-school you might have been able to pretend the Nixon Library was Disneyland and Fashion Island was Knott's Berry Farm.

I have known a few that have gone back. When these questions were brought up they were told "oh your area will tell you all that." Then they get to their area and even they don't know much yet.

Are you referring to CM's that have been recently brought back from furlough? And their managers don't know if their job location will be open or how it will operate?

Please tell us that's not the case.
