>>Do you have what it takes to play Peter Pan, Rapunzel or Goofy at Disneyland or maybe Captain America or even Lightning McQueen at Disney California Adventure?

Disneyland is holding a series of casting calls to select new performers to play princesses, super heroes, race cars and maybe even Mickey Mouse at the Anaheim theme park.

The Disney Audition website lists four casting calls in January looking for high energy, engaging performers with improvisational skills and slender to athletic builds to play Disney, Pixar and Marvel characters at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.

A call for headshot photos on Friday, Jan. 3 sought Disney character look-alikes who can play Ariel, Belle, Moana, Rapunzel, Tiana, Jasmine, Aladdin, Peter Pan, Prince Charming or Captain America. Performers interested in playing Wakanda warrior Dora Milaje from “Black Panther” must be willing to shave their head. The part-time meet-and-greet roles start at $15.75 per hour.

A Disney Auditions casting call on Jan. 18 at the Disney Performing Arts Studios in the former ESPN Zone at Downtown Disney in Anaheim is looking for performers to get behind the wheel of Cars Land characters starting in mid-March.

Outgoing, energetic and enthusiastic candidates need to be between 5 foot-2 and 5 foot-8 with a clean DMV driving record.

The Disney Parks Live Entertainment parade performers need to be comfortable in confined spaces and able to repeatedly get in and out of float vehicles.

A pair of Disney auditions at the Onstage Dance Center in Downey on Jan. 31 seek “sculpted character performers” to sign autographs and pose for photographs with visitors.

What is a sculpted character performer? That’s Disney-speak for a character like Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck. Disney is looking for sculpted character performers in two height ranges: 4 foot-7 1/2 to 5-foot-3 and 6-foot to 6-foot-4.

Sculpted character performers are required to wear full-body costumes, stand for long periods and endure all weather conditions. Full-time positions may be available for certain sculpted character performer roles.

The casting call doesn’t list specific characters, but the height requirements give some indication of what Disney is looking for. Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck fit into the shorter category. Goofy, Chewbacca and Groot match the taller range. It’s always possible that Disneyland is looking for less common characters like Captain Hook, Genie or King Louie.<<

So they are referring to the former ESPN Building as the Disney Performing Arts Studio. It states it on the Disney Auditions website also. Is that one of the buildings that was removed for MIckey and Minnies Runaway Railroad? Curious how permanent that is?

So the Register doesn't think something has to be 'new' to be 'news' then?

I check that regularly for hints of actual new things coming to the parks.

Bleh. I check the audition site regularly. The only auditions I'm not too short for would be the sculpted character auditions, which I would adore because they get to have the most fun. But trying to get a day off of my current job is like trying to get a cat to come when its called. But good luck, anyone who attends!

Hold on a minute.....

Is this not 'ruining the Magic'....??

That's a really good point.

Is this the first time that Disney has allowed a media outlet to acknowledge that they hire Fullerton Junior College co-eds to play Cinderella and Elsa and Mickey Mouse? They used to be so coy and secretive about this stuff. But now they seem to be so desperate for employees that they openly admit it's not really Mickey Mouse, it's just college kids inside a fur suit working for $15 an hour.

Is this just a casualty of the Orange County unemployment rate at a shockingly low 2.5% (the lowest on record!), or is it fallout from an executive team in TDA who is now decades removed from all the old-school suits who retired years ago? Maybe both?

Well with my body type and looking at the Black Widow Preview, I bet I could do the Red Guardian, shouting out "It still fits"

$15.75 an hour? No wonder the Black Widow looked so uninterested in standing next to my fat assssk me again sometime.
