Disney World/Disney Dream Honeymoon April 2012 Trip Report

It has been over a month since my Cinderella wedding and I can't believe the time went by so fast. I can barely find the time to do a trip report, but I don't want to wait much longer to start on it!

Who: My husband and I (that sounds weird still!)

What: Our Honeymoon

When: April 17-28th

Where: Universal/IoA, Disney Dream, and Disney World

My name is Nicole and my husbands name is Troy, and some of you might remember us from my previous and first trip report about a year and a half ago. During that trip we became engaged which lead us to this trip. You can read that report here http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=608141if you would like more background info

Here is a picture of us from our wedding

It's almost 5 a.m. here in Louisville so I better get back to bed. Third shift really sucks. I will post again before the weekend for sure!

Up next: We leave for Orlando!

Day 1 &2: Road Trip and DTD!

Originally we had planned on leaving our home in Louisville, KY for Orlando on Wednesday April 18, but we decided we wanted to leave sooner, so we hit the road on Tuesday around 11:30 am. We had no plans for this day and we was in no rush to get there. We ate lunch at Sonic in Shepherdsville, KY had dinner at a Cracker Barrel somewhere in Gerogia. We stayed at a Ramada in Macon, GA overnight.

The next morning we was back on the road at 10 and arrived at our hotel in Orlando around 3:45. I had made reservations at the Quality Inn International months before and I was hoping we could book an extra night when we got there. The hotel was pretty nice and was very close to Universal, which is why we picked the hotel. They provided free shuttle to and from the parks which was another plus for us.

As soon as we dropped off our bags in our room, I was itching to go to DTD. The first thing we did when we got there was eat at Earl of Sandwich. We love this place and talk about it a lot back home.

Cannonballs!

I was really wanting to get some stuff for our kitchen (its done in Mickey) but man I could not get over some of those prices! I did find some art that I liked at the Art of Disney store though.

After that, I bought some items at the stores and we walked around some. We decided to head back to hotel and find out some more information on CityWalk at Universal because Troy wanted to check it out. After 10pm parking is only $5 so we decided to see what the night life was like. We had dinner at Hard Rock Cafe and I really liked the atmosphere. I ate there once when I was younger but now it seems so much cooler now that I know who the artists are that are featured there.

I found only one thing that related to Michael Jackson (I'm a big fan).

After dinner we hit up Fat Tuesdays and we each got a drink. There was some kind of convention group that was haning around so we just played the new mini golf instead of going to one of the clubs. We played the the haunted course instead of the sci-fi one. It was fun and I liked the way it was designed.

I don't remember what time we left, but it wasn't long after midnight. We had to get up early the next day for our full day at Islands of Adventures. I was excited to see what all the hype was about with Harry Potter!

Next up: Islands of Adventures

Islands of Adventures

I was super excited to go to Islands of Adventures because I was wanting to see what all the hype was about with Harry Potter. I haven't been to the park since 2006 and this would be mine and Troy's first time there together.

We woke up around 7 and we were waiting for our shuttle to the park around 7:50. When they picked us up at 8, we still had to stop at another hotel on International Drive to get more guests. We didn't get to the park until 15 til 9 and I was super anxious we would be cutting it close to be there before the parks opening. As soon as the gates opened at 9 we made a beeline (along with everyone else) to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. As soon as we walked into Hogsmeade all I could say was "wow!" I couldn't believe how amazing it looked and I counldn't stop looking at the castle.

IMG_1728.jpg

We checked the wait time for the Forbidden Journey and it was only 20 minutes, not bad. We picked out a locker and made our way through the queue. Now I'm not big into Harry Potter and I've only read the first four books and seen three of the movies, but I told Troy that if I was a fan of this I would be estatic to see it all come to life. A lot of people was stopping to watch Dumbledore talk, but I was looking forward to seeing how great this ride was going to be. I have to say, while it is a very cool ride, I thought Spiderman was more exciting and fun to us. I started to feel kind of dizzy and I couldn't get a grasp as to what I was seeing during the ride, so I'm sure that factors in to my opinion about it.

After the journey we decided to ride Dragon Challenge, which to me is still Dueling Dragons, and that was fun, but I've always thought it was just another regular coaster.

Next was another first for us, Posideons Fury. We waited way too long for this attraction and I will probably never do it again. It was interesting to watch the last part of the show though.

IMG_1730.jpg

Troy really likes X-men, so we made our way over to Marvel land and met some superheros. We saw Wolverine, Rogue, Storm, and Cyclops. When troy was meeting Cyclops, Cyclops asked Troy what he was doing out of the hotel room!! It made me laugh but we could not believe he said that. Oh, I also met the Green Goblin (I think) from Spiderman.

IMG_1732.jpg

They really like the fighter poses here don't they?

IMG_1744.jpg

Spider-man was next and I was really excited. I really loved this ride last time I rode it and now with an upgrade just recently, I couldn't wait to experience it again. We ended up waiting 40 minutes but it didn't bother us. I kept myself busy by taking some pictures in line and we played on our phone. We came off the ride smiling and laughing. We had a really great time!

This was in queue and I thought it was funny.

I had no idea that I would not have much free time after I got married! It has never been this hard for me to get on the computer ever, and now that I have a night off of work, I can finally continue this report.

So after our adventure with Spider man, we decided to have lunch at the QS in Marvel land. (I can't remember the name, sorry!) And right after lunch we headed over to The Hulk. I was pumped up and was extremely excited as we only had to wait 10 minutes. I just love the feeling you get when you know you're about to take off!

IMG_1743.jpg

When it was over we strolled on over to Toon Lagoon and decided it was time to have some dessert. After we ate our Dippin Dots, we had some fun in the area.

This made laugh and it's either because the heat got to me or my sense of humor stinks.

IMG_1754.jpg

I have never rode Dudley Do Right Rip Saw Falls so I was wondering if anyone can tell me if it's a decent one?

We headed back over to visit Hogsmeade to check out the stores since we rushed through earlier. Here are some pics I snapped along the way.

OKay, can somebody remind me what this book is? I remember reading about it, but it's been so long.

IMG_1767.jpg

That place was so crowded. We was in there for about 5 minutes and got out as soon as possible!

I ended up buying some of those all flavor jelly beans and when we got back home, I thought it would be fun to share them at work. hahahahaha *evil laugh* Everyone just loves me now:)

We listened to the singing frog choir for one song because they was leaving soon, but we liked it. They was pretty good!

This is the Owl Post right?
IMG_1764.jpg

After we seen all we wanted to we said good-bye to Harry and traveled over to Seuss Landing. I love these trees!
IMG_1769.jpg

We rode The Cat in the Hat and I wanted to meet the Lorax but he never came out as scheduled. I was bummed :(

We left the park after that and I want to say it was only five o'clockish. We got a taxi back to the hotel and I took a quick nap. After I woke up we walked over to CiCi's Pizza. We was looking forward to this dinner because we don't have anymore CiCi's in Louisville and we enjoy this place.

Our hotel was right next to the worlds largest entertainment McDonalds so we figured we would check it out after dinner. We played a few games and I won the jackpot on one! Oh yeah!

IMG_1775.jpg

We went back to our hotel and hit the lounge up and played some pool. We ended up going to bed around 11:00. Tomorrow we get to visit Universal!!

Universal Studios!

I forgot to post this pic on the last update. As we was on the way out of the park, we ran into Woody Woodpecker and he wanted to show off our rings!
IMG_1773.jpg

We decided to not use the hotels shuttle service today and just drove over to Universal ourself. This way we are able to leave the park at any time instead of using a taxi. We arrived at the front gate 15 minutes past opening time and was headed for Rip, Ride, and Rock It but got side tracked by Homer!
IMG_1777.jpg

After we stopped and said hello, we seen the short wait time for Shrek and decided to get in line. I forgot the seats move in the ride!! We finally made it to Rip, Ride and Rock It afterwards and also experienced a short wait. This was our first time riding it and I was really nervous but more excited to experience it. I liked how the train never stopped to let you board but you had to walk on the moving platform to get in your seat. I had no idea that riding up that lift would really freaked me out! Such an odd feeling but I really liked the coaster. I would do it again for sure. And watching part of our on ride video afterwards really cracked me up!
IMG_1779.jpg

Next up on our adventure is a trip to the Mummy! This would be my second time riding it and was pumped up. We saw this guy right outside the entrance having fun with other guests.
IMG_1781.jpg

IMG_1782.jpg

When we exited the ride we began to walk towards Disaster! On the way there a lady stopped us and we took a quick survey, and we qualified to watch TV show pilots for $15 a piece! She said a lot of TV shows come through them and get screened before they make it on the air, if they even do. She also said that Joey (the Friends spinoff) was reviewed here and people loved it. We sat at our computers and we both watched a different sitcom. I watched one with Matthew Perry titled "Go On" about his wife passing away and he has to go to counseling because of his job and Troy watched something else about a father marrying his daughters enemy. I can't remember the name he said it was but he said it was horrible. While we watched the show we had a button in each hand. If he liked a part in the show we hit the green button, if we didn't like a part we hit the red button, and if we felt neutral we held down both buttons. We thought it was really great experience and plus it paid for our lunch!
A few weeks after we got home I saw in my Entertainment magazine that the show I watched was good enough to be aired on TV this fall. It made me feel like I helped pick out a new show and I can't wait to watch it!

After our screening we spotted Frank the Pug out in front of Mel's Diner.
IMG_1790.jpg

The handlers told us that he would be in a show in a few min. with other animals and told us to check it out. I really liked the show and it was really cute. It was all about animals in movie and had great audience participation.

I'm a Harry Potter dork...it's from Book 3, Prisoner of Azkaban...the lovely Monster Book of Monsters

Also, to answer another question...Dudley Do-Right's Rip Saw Falls is actually a really excellent ride. In terms of "theme" Splash Mountain still wins hands down, but in terms of actual "this is an awesome log flume ride that may actually soak you fun" Rip Saw Falls wins in my book. The same can actually be said IMO when comparing Kali River Rapids with Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges. Popeye's is just a better (and longer...seriously have never found Kali worth the wait because it is so short) raft ride.

So Fun seeing you compare. I always wonder how they stack...

1. Umm that mummy guy, hello!!!! (This statement made my own hubs eyes roll then got a good chuckle.
2. Love the picture of Woody with the rings!!!
3. Having no idea about anything of Harrys. I have no idea what the picture of the thing with teeth is, but I am guessing its not friendly.
