Based on what I've heard from an immediate family member who works in a major component of the most popular tourist destination in the U.S., I'm predicting late July-early August. And I'm also predicting staggered re-openings of parks, restaurants, and resorts.*

*I have no insider Disney connections (obviously!).

I was asking a poster, specifically talking about the Orlando area, who was saying that it was illegal for non-essential workers to be driving. AFAIK, no county in FL has stated that you can't go for a joy ride - but it is possible. Which is why I asked for a source.

Got it! Sorry I misunderstood. Curfew is the only aspect that would prevent that I suppose.

I'm in Polk County and haven't heard of any County wide stay at home orders. We're catercorner from Orange and next to Osceola. From what I've seen though people are being pretty good about just doing grocery stories, WallyWorld, etc. Fast food restaurants are open for drive through and Beef O Brady's has a pretty cool order by phone and pick up at the curb. It must be noted that here in Polk we're mostly cattle and oranges...... so there's that.

Well I am realBobChapek after all ;). Trusted sources are saying it will reopen in May, however if the pandemic continues to worsen, I suspect it will open even later than that.

Edit: I seriously hope everybody here is aware this is a parody account... 😂

LOL! You probably shoulda named your account "realBobChapek's Chrome Dome" or something like that. I just like the thought that anyone would think that you're actually Bob Chapek hanging out on a Dis fan site and facing the music against actual fans... with your real name. 🤣 🤪

let me say that all the spring breakers on the beaches the last two weeks DID NOT HELP THE PROCESS.. it only delayed the process even more.. the same with the people who were at Marde Gras .. but really last two weeks.. or even the last night Disney was opened.. Roy Disney's Daughter asked .. what the heck are these people doing ? in a totally different terminology.. lots of people have the virus and don't know it.. and even more are being exposed to it.. STAY HOME.. you want DISNEY TO REOPEN.. then STAY HOME.. NOW.. the faster we all STAY HOME the faster the situation will change.. and the faster the end will come.. and Disney will reopen..but the only way this will happen is by STAYING HOME.. NOW..

I really think you should drop the 'parody'.

Could you please provide a source that states that lockdown = no driving? Of course, there are very few places open to drive to, but my understanding was that people could still drive to places that were open (groceries, etc) and for all practical purposes could drive around as long as they have little or no person to person contact with anyone. Especially delivery people, truck drivers, etc.

So I'm not sure the onus will be on employees, but rather employers, to go into lockdown. Of course, in areas where the majority of people do not drive personal cars on a daily basis the lockdown is handled differently.
actually in Michigan.. you have to show that you are a farmer or a Police , medical or other involved worker OR YOU WILL BE FINED heavily.. my in laws from Michigan just posted this to me on a messenger .. that he has to have his ag paper work with him to travel.. or show cause..

there is a story on JSONLINE asking people NOT TO TRAVEL TO THEIR VACATION HOMES in northern Wisconsin.. for one .. the hospitals there are small and extremely limited and two, they don't want the virus carried to those areas of the state..

The executive order from the governor allows people to travel just like most places, to businesses that are open and even to recreational venues that allow proper distancing.

They certainly don't want people out driving around all over the place. but if you have a lockdown of everything excep non-essential businesses which would include grocery stores and drug stores, then logic dictates that they can't expect everyone to stay home except those workers because what would be the point of opening a grocery store or drug store if the only people that could shop there were the people that worked there. I think whoever said it was illegal for non-essential workers to be driving was confusing a shutdown of non-essential businesses with a curfew which has not happened and probably never will for something like this. Curfews are more likely during things like hurricanes where the power is gone and they are trying to keep people from looting.

People need to know that WDW themselves will update the website and that they will contact people with reservations and deuces changes and reschedule options. Don’t always believe media, call Disney Vacation Specialists.

Both Osceola and Orange Counties - in which WDW property is - have issued mandatory Stay at Home/In Place orders that don't expire until April 8th. The Orders impact WDW operations. WDW isn't opening April 1st. And don't call WDW travel specialists right now to inquire...they've got their hands full. And they probably don't know anything.

Please remember though that’s as things are today. No one knows whats going to happen.

This is the word to live by. and not just because of who said it (though I totally trust Marni). There is just way to much that isn't known yet, particularly how long it's going to take for this to get under control. And the longer that it takes for some people to understand this is real, the longer it's going to take for everything to turn around and get to normal.

Whether that's mid April (doubtful), July (hopeful) or December (better be!) we just really don't know, and won't know, for a while yet.

Do you mean the new disclaimer on my page or the whole act?

The act isn't going anywhere ;)
It's just like the mall Santa Claus situation-you aren't Bob Chapek, but you are one of his look-alike "helpers", cause we all know that Bob sees us when we're sleeping, he knows when we're awake, he knows when you have extra disposable income, so spend at WDW for goodness sakes! :D
