Disney Wildlife

I know this has kinda been posted before but I was wondering if anyone has been on a quiet walk back to their resort from the main building or just walking around their resort taking in the scenery and come across Disney wildlife.

We stayed in AB at POR last summer and was walking back from the main building and came across a baby snapping turtle right in the middle of the sidewalk. Had I not moved him a CM would have squished him with a golf cart. Anyway, deer, snakes, gators?

I've seen a lot of wildlife around Disney. Obviously the birds in the parks are some. I've also seen a heron in the parking lot at MK, tree frogs jumping on people in my group at both CBR and POR, snakes at POR, lizards at multiple resorts, and the most exotic is an alligator in Rivers of America while on the raft over to TSI.

Lizards, turkeys, water moccasin snakes, gators, exotic birds, frogs etc... We have been told by resort cm's you can also see florida panthers from time to time. One time when we stayed out at SOG the grounds crew that was out at night told us not to walk the paths towards the back of the resort at night due to very large venomous snakes crossing the paths that you cant see bc it is so dark. They told us always to go everywhere thru the inside of the resort during dark hours.

We call the Disney Bunnies Snow Whites Bunnies because they along with the squirrels are everywhere! I have a couple cool stories though....
Once while staying at Wilderness Lodge my husband and I went on short jog over to the campground and we saw 5 deer. Yes 5 deer just standing in the woods. They did not run away they where just hanging out.... Hanging out and watching us as closely as we where watching them....
We were at MK at extra magic hours the week after Christmas. It was past 3 Am so the park was closed and cleared out and because of the weather 99% of the guest had left for the evening. As we were leaving 2 ducks where following us down main street! They eventually turned around but it was entertaining.
My last "Wildlife" story still freaks me out! We were staying at Caribbean Beach we were coming back from the bus stop and saw a large black snack. I screamed... started to run got about 3 steps felt something in my shoe and realized the snakes baby was in my flip flop! Needless to say... Even though I am an Annul Pass holder and go to Disney several times a year... I have not been back to Caribbean Beach.. :)

In the Parks
No
Seen plenty of deer in various places. Only one small snake as we exited the old barnstormer prior to its new set up. But my favorite was the large alligater in bay lake near the boat docks in fort wilderness. Both the resort boat and mk boats had to sit until it swam away. Until then I never really thought much about gators. The cm on the boat said we see them often but we don't talk about it much. When we did the private boat cruise for wishes, the cm took out a spot light to look for eyes near the shores of discovery island

Reading about the snake in your flip flop gave me the heebie jeebies. If that ever happened to me I think I'd have to undergo intensive psychiatric therapy to be able to function normally again.

Yes we stayed at fort wilderness and saw everything from deer to armadillos.
Yep! Lots of wildlife at the Fort. But hey... It's a wilderness! There have even been bears and aligators and of course there are these guys:

Me too because I am terrified of snakes and if I found one in my shoe I probably would have had a heart attack and died.

Yeah, I doubt that. There are only about 100 of them left in the wild, and they all live in or around the Everglades. I also can't imagine that Disney would be too keen on a large, agile land predator roaming around the property and treating it as its hunting territory.

The snake thing, though, that's totally plausible. I'm surprised I don't see more venomous snakes when at Disney. I grew up in Central Florida, so I know they're there. I guess they just can't get in Disney's invisible forcefield bubble. You know, the one that keeps out the mosquitoes?

We have had ducks in the zero depth area of AKL pool with us. Baby ducks having breakfast with us at CS patio along with armadillos at CS. Turtles in the paths at POR, especially the Bayou area. And one big honk'n gator on the golf course.

For some dumb reason my game went down hill after that. I was done.

In the 70s, we use to see a lot of wildlife when staying at Fort Wilderness. We still see a lot, just not as much. Bunnies, squirrels, armadillos, deer, snakes, birds, and a bunch of others.
